Finally got some reasonable weather to go to range with new Bobcat with Hawke Eclispe 6x24x50.
Let me start by saying I don't have a lot of airgun experience.
That said I was shooting JSB 18.1 gr at 50 yds. First 3 5 shot groups were great, all shots touching.
I then changed scope from 24x to 20x and the point of impact dropped over 2/2 inch right and 1/2 inch down but still 4 shots almost in 1 hole, 5 th was 1/2 high.
Then switched back to 24x power and group opened up to 1.5 inches. Fill in gun started at 3000 to 2400.
6th group back on 20x was back to title 1/2 inch but now 1/2 high and 1/2 inch right.
Moved power ring on scope back & forth several times leaving it on 20x and group of 4 almost one hole with fifth shot 1 inch low to the right. Now I am getting confused.
Shot 3 more groups ranging in size 1 inch to 1.7 inches. Moving power ring between groups.
Then shot 3 groups at 25 yds and all were one hole exactly where they should have been, 1 dot high.
Then preceded shot 4 more 5 shot 50 yd groups ranging between 0.8 to 1.7 inches.
Did notice a lot of water formed on left side of receiver around power wheel. Enough to lok like it was poured on it.
Do these gun generate large amounts of condinsation in cold weather, 30 degrees? Or do I have a small leak?
Now for my big question. What does anyone think about the above.
First I don't believe poi should be changing when changing magnification. Non of my rifle scopes ever did, but it doesn't seem possible.
Next is the determination of the great groups due to scope or gun?

Only FFP First focal plane scope are not affected by poi changes when zooming. All other scopes will. If your 50 Yard mark is at 1/2 mildot then it will be at 1 Mildot at 20 power

I was not using mil dots on the above. Simply cross hairs at 50 yds and changing magnification. Poi shifts from center to various other locations simply by moving mag ring back and forth and shooting with it at the same mag.
I just sent scope back to Hawke

Got a call yesterday from customer service at Hawke Sort Optics after they received my scope, and did not see my lengthy letter in box. Asked why I returned scope so I explained the letter and recapped it.
Today Jeremy from Hawke called saying they found nothing wrong with scope except a minor amount of slack in the side focus. Whatever that means,
.
How he said they were sending me a new scope just to keep me happy.
I call that great customer, even though the poi was changeling with the changing of the magnification.

That's why I have 3 of them. I sent Sidewinder back once and they couldn't find nothing wrong with it. I sent it back a month later after discussion with tech and they sent me a new on and problem was solved. When everything is said and done the sidewinder series are tough to beat. Especially when you could buy one at $420 or so
