Arjuna is our AR sharp shooter this match, taking gold with his TX200.  Jfrey is in second place with Silver, and Blue wins third for the Bronze medal; both shooting Airhawks.  Springers rule this match!  Looking good down there!

There are two matches in this post:  a 5 meter air pistol match and a 10 meter air rifle match.  Shoot one, shoot the other, or shoot both.  I'll change the title of this first post to “Results...” and add the scores up top when its over.

Rules for Both Matches:
Shoot as many times as you like before posting your results once.  You cannot change or supersede your posted scores after posting.  Post your scores and target image in one reply to this thread for each match, or scores and images for both matches in one reply - your choice, but do it by 21:00 EST (GMT-5) on the end date of the match.

Use a target with “45” in the file name if you are shooting 177 caliber pellets.  Use a target with “55” in the file name if you are shooting 0.20 or larger caliber pellets.  If you have a small 5.5 inch pellet trap, look for the targets with "SmallTrap" in the pdf file name (print to 8.5x11 paper and cut the sheet in half to make two targets, and remember to flip them over before shooting the top bulls in a square trap!).

Shots are scored according to the highest value of the target scoring zone or ring that is touched by a circle centered over your shots on the target.  The diameter of this circle should be 4.5mm (0.177 inch) on "45" targets and 5.5mm (0.22 inch) on "55" targets.  The head of a wadcutter pellet comes in handy for this (the pellet skirt may be too large), as does a scoring gauge.  If any part of a scoring ring (demarcation line between the scoring zones) is touched by the circle, including even the outside edge of the scoring ring line, the shot is scored the higher value of the two scoring zones.  Note the 10 and "X" scoring zones are not labeled.  Exceptions to this scoring guidance are noted on the bottom of the targets with the ring diameters.  For example, an "X" is scored on most "55" targets only if the circle completely covers (i.e., removes) the center dot.  Rings are a little smaller and the "X" rule is different on "55" targets so that there is no advantage or disadvantage to using larger 22 caliber pellets.

Both matches are 20 shots.  You decide how many shots per bull.  If you need to use two or more target sheets, that is fine as long as they are shot consecutively as a potential intended match entry.  Time limit is 20 minutes (25 minutes for a multi-pump rifle or pistol).  Practice shots do not count against the time limit.

Targets shot before the match start date (the date of this post, not the latest edit date) are not permitted.  Please write the date shot on your target and post your target image and score using the following format (without descriptive labels) to make it easier for me to consistently summarize the final match results:

5 Meter Air Pistol Match Rules and Targets

20 shots total.  Grip may be one or two handed.  Shooting position must be standing (seated if you cannot stand), with the pistol unsupported.  The shooter's feet must be behind or touching a line 5 meters (16 feet, 5 inches) from the target face.  Any pistol type or sight is allowed.  No special shooting clothing, shooting shoes, or equipment allowed.

10 Meter Air Rifle Match Rules and Targets

I was going to throw this away, but I sent it your way. I didn't know how to score because
the two center rings had no numbers.

The 8,9, and10 rings are not numbered on this target. ( No room to put them)That little dot/circle
in the very center of the bull is the 10.

I am at work, on my android. If no one else responds, I will look at your target on my desktop when I get

With this target being scaled so small, it would be best to only shoot
one shot per bull, maybe two if you absolutly must. Will be much easier to score.

The target you shot is a rifle target. I didn't bother to try and score it.
If you are able to shoot 6 meters, give yourself a break and shoot at 5 meters using this target.

I'm glad you didn't throw that one away KZ4ZZZ!  You did shoot the wrong rifle target (looks like you used the MR, not the SR target), and with a pistol no less ... but, wow!  Those are some very nice 5M pistol groups up there.  If that were my target, I'd be proud enough to leave it up there.  If it continues to look like a medal contender, I'll see what I can do to score it in graphics software against the correct target ring sizes.

This target would work well for two shots per bull next time:  AirPistol5Mx12_45.pdf.  Just remember the center two bulls enclosed in a rounded corners rectangle are for practice only on this target - only the 10 outside bulls count for score.

I've shot several targets so far but they keep tearing and it's difficult to score them.  I use a Eagle Eye scoring gage but can't be sure where the pellet hit when I remove the 20Lb. paper.  Going to try again tomorrow leaving a thin fresh cardboard attached.  Having fun.

1 - Make sure you have good cardboard backer behind the target. Once the cardboard backer gets "shot up," it is not doing its job as a backer.  Moving the target around on the backer works, so the bull is over cardboard rather than a hole.
2 - If you are grouping tight, reduce the number of shots per target, till you can score it easily.  If you are real good with a rifle, you may have to only shoot one shot per bull.

2 - If you are grouping tight, reduce the number of shots per target, till you can score it easily.  If you are real good with a rifle, you may have to only shoot one shot per bull.

I've been too wobbly to use the 717, had to build up to it by using my P17 for a while.  I still keep catching myself looking over the sights at the bullseye to try to see what the shot will score, need a lot more work on that.

It all comes down to being able to score the target.
If you cannot score the target with 2 shots on the bull, then you need to drop to 1 shot on a bull.
When I was shooting AP, on a good day, I would have to use 2 targets (5 shots each target), as I could not score 10 shots on a target.  This is because the group of 10 shots would destroy the target too much to score each shot.  Unfortunately I never got to the point that I needed to use 3 targets for 10 shots.

(Boy, I sure messed this up.  Sorry.)

Followed your advice.  Grabbed the lid of a used large pizza box.  Cut excess and scotch taped 2 targets.  Then taped it to a archery Styrofoam arrow target from Wally World.  It's the best combo yet.  My next attempt is to use less than 20 Lb paper.

Wow Ron. Excellent shooting.  One handed and open sights!  Now that is awesum!  I would be happy hitting any of the bulls trying that.  At 75 years old I can't see the target if I focus on the sights with bifocals.

Thanks Gil, I have an advantage as my eyes are only 58.  I'm using progressive bifocals and can usually get the front sight in focus and still see a black blurry bullseye (if I tilt my head just right). I need to break down and get some lenses just for shooting.
