making seals..

Hi..
Still playing with making seals...
made a mould..but have not been able to
fined a source for urethane resin here yet...
costs a fortune to import it...

So have gone down the turning them up road..
Have tryed a few diffrent types of urethane
shore ratings...up to 95A and its hard enough to be useable
but still softer than what I would like...got shore 75D coming..
hoping the 75D will give a better surface finish...
its funny in that in bar form it feels hard enough but once turned
to seal size it becomes very soft...the first one I tryed was 60A
after turning...it was almost jelly...

The one in the pic is in my Hatsan mod 75...seems to be working ok.
but is 95A...75D should produce a far better seal....

will just have to be like a dog with a bone....till I get the right Shore rating..

What tooling are you turning with, MoMax, high speed tool steel, ceramic, diamond, carbid, other? Are you flooding with coolant, air cooling or no cooling?

coolant ..water & soluble  oil...
