Benjamin 392 pump arm will not stay closed

Hello, My bengi 392 pump arm has started to fall open by gravity) a few seconds after pumping. air pressure seems to be fine and accuracy has not changed. I put a piece of tire inner tube on it to keep it closed while walking but it is annoying. Anyone know what might be the issue? Thanks for any help

I'm not sure, but I think you have to adjust the piston closer to the valve.
I'm sure of this though, you will get the correct answer from someone.

Actually it's time for a new pump cup.   The cup compresses against the valve and helps hold the arm closed.  Also check the pin holes in the linkage, if they are worn, the cup is no longer under the proper compression.

Most of the time that's caused by the hole in the linkage wallowing out at the big pin at the end of the barrel. Over pumping, under lubrication and just lots of use or a combination of the three cause the problem.

I'll buy your gun too if the price is right but you can probably find the parts or get it fixed without spending an arm or leg. Find someone in your area that repairs Benjamin and Sheridan air guns. They will have what you need to fix it yourself or you may just want to pay them to fix it for you.
