The family heirloom tree,my late parents purchased in 1963. I'm in charge of it's care and it was it's year to go up,for all to enjoy!
Still have it's original color wheel light,even the 150 watt bulb still works!
Plus a great find hidden in bottom of box,my long lost Oct. 1964 issue of Hot Rod mag!

its a good luck tree also. we had 1 in that era too but I don't know where it ended up at. but they eliminated birds from sneakin in the house. we cut a live tree out of the fence row and took it in the house. about 10 minutes after it got stood up in the tree holder a sparrow was flying in the house. the next year mom bought 1 of those trees like yours

Way cool .My grandma had one. It used to shock the bejesus out of ya when you walked across the carpet of that time and got anywhere near it. Got to love the color light too.

LOL, I think everybody's family had one of them back then. I remember my Grandmother had blue decorataments and ornamations on hers.

We didn't have one of those but my Great Uncle was an inventor and was always coming up with something. he took an old washing machine base (cast iron weighed a ton) he used a angle food cake pan for the top to cover the trunk. there were holes in the platform for the lights to shine on the bottom of the tree. the platform rotated which had copper wipers that made contact to the bottom of the platform so you could plug in the tree lights. the best part was putting the lead tinsel on the chain drive and watch it pop when it came across the open connections.

I don't think it would pass UA or CSA

but as kids it sure was fun.

Not sure why, but this reminds me of an apartment me and my buddy had in about 1965 or so. We had the same tree, but smaller. We made garlands out of beer pull tabs linked together. Crazy days.

The best part is the Hot Rod magazine. Those were REAL hot rods back then!!! Look at the ads and the prices of cars!!

Yes, brings back memories. My parents had one when I was a kid, Dad would still set it up every year.
Unfortunately when he passed away 6 years ago Mom decided it was time for a "modern" tree.
Now Mom gets to clean up the needles from a live tree.

Awesome, I remember this tree. Dad finally got mad and said we were having a real tree in our house, he took that tree to the curb for the trash. We got the light out of the box and used it for lighting for our garage band. We were way cool back then.
