How do your travel with your M-rod?

Hello people!

I know these are a pretty big gun and don't fit well in most cases either single hard or soft.

I have a couple 2 gun and a 4 gun hard case that sury will work. But would like a dedicated soft case for travel in the truck.

What do you like or use. ?

 I have a 50$ Cabelas birthday GC burning a hole in my wallet.

I think that every rifle bag should have lotsa pockets! Gotta pack pellets, accessories, etc.

I just picked up this Plano at Wal-Mart for $68.99.



I carry my Condor SS in it. Love this case.
But for Cabela's, here is one that should work for the MRod.

I really like the new Plano cases at Wally World.  Durable and able to travel by air if need be.  I am going to get one after the holidays.  My Walmart always discounts their hunting and shooting items after that time.

My .22 Marauder measures in at 42-3/4", so that Plano All Weather Tactical Case might be a tad snug with an interior length measurement of 43". I'm pretty sure they make a longer version of that case though. I prefer a soft case with pouches this time. As I said I do have a few hard cases.
The first tactile case shows promise!!

i use one of these mounted in the other direction . or sometimes it just rides in the front seat with me. kind of like an old truck dog. lol

Last year around this time Wal-Mart was selling the all weather Plano cases for $40-$50.  People were buying all that were in stock at their local stores due to the great price. There was a pretty good discussion on them at the AR15 forum.  Wonder if the price will drop again this year.  There is one on the shelf at my local store I will be keeping an eye on.

 This is just my own opinion,... and only offered as food for thought.

 Since Marauders have a floating barrel design, I'm not so sure I would want mine traveling in a truck inside of a soft side case.
 Might be ok for a short trip from house to range or a buddies nearby house,... but beyond that, or for extended road trips,...
 My Marauder rides in a Hardside.
 (and BOTH of my Marauders have also been "un-floated" to boot )!

 Many Mrod owners have experienced a shifting POI due to barrel/shrouds being bumped or leaned against.
 "Un-floating" my barrel/shroud has all but eliminated that problem on both of my Mrods.... but I still carry them in hardsides.

To each his own I suppose.

FOLLOW-UP;

Well I wanted a soft case...but I ended up with another hard case. 

As recommended its a better option for protection to the gun for sure. Its a slim-line Plano cheapo but its working pretty well. My single complaint is its gotta be put in upside down to fit with the big Bushnell scope.

A "cheapo" rifle case will work 99% of the time. But if you're planning on doing any air travel you'll need a really good quality case that is lockable if you want to protect your rifle & expect the case to actually survive baggage handlers.

+1 for the air travel needing a good case. that is where i would recommend a pelican. expensive, yes. but very durable and high quality. and airlines are hard on stuff. i would pack it as though you were going to throw it out the window of your truck on interstate.

 for general travel up and down the road all previously posted ideas will work. all about preference.
