dry firing benjamin trail np xl

hey everyone, I purchase a benjamin trail np xl 1100 about 5 days ago.  I cocked the rifle and got distracted by a phone call and forgot to put load a pellet, then dry fired the gun after the phone call.  That was the very first shot, my question is did I damage it or should the gun be ok? thank in advance for your help.

thanks. where do I get a replacement piston seal for the rifle, and how do I disassemble the rifle? do I need any specialty tools.  I'm just reading all the info I can on this rifle so feel free to pitch in on the stuff that needs attention on this gun.

get a Maccaris seal the one for the walthers\if i recall this is the one i ordered now

gun is simple to tear down
get a Spanner wrench to make it easier and not mar up the Cap like i did

are you sure that is the exact seal? where do I get a spanner wrench, and the moly grease that everyone is talking about?

Yes, crowpopper listed the correct seal for the Trail XL's.

Jim Maccari also has the moly grease listed on that website.

You'll have to make your own spanner wrench. Folks have done it a number of ways. Use the search funtion and type in "spanner" or "Trail XL" and your bound to find posts on what/how others have done with their XL's.

The spanner is not required, but would make the job easier, the right tool, etc.... there's tons of info in the posts and the library about tuning these as well as other springers as Paul said. You'll also need a vise or a large buddy to hold on to the receiver while you try to muscle the cap off the first time. Also lots of info about cleaning the barrel properly and breaking them in.

a wrench can be made easily by taking a piece of flat stock and drill to holes according to the diameter and spacing as on the cap of the gun and then install 2 short grade 8 bolts in the holes of the "wrench" and there ya have it a 5 dollar spanner wrench

Ok guys thanks for your help.  I don't have much time to search cause I work a weird schedule and plus I got a pregnant wife and I get pretty busy.  but I will try to do more searching and get more familiar with this rifle, so far I like it a lot.  So the Moly paste is the same as the Moly grease right?

ok paulie so I looked in the library and used the search and can't find much on how to clean the barrel properly and to break the rifle in.  Even if I won't find damage done to the original seal would it be a good idea to get the Macarri seal anyway? Can I get the moly grease from any auto parts store besides getting it online?
