My intro

My interest in air guns began when my son in law bought a Gamo Silent Stalker to take care of the nutria problem in the lake behind his house. I really enjoyed shooting it, mostly at targets, and decided to research air guns in general and in the process found the GTA forums which have helped me in learning how to accurately shoot my recently purchased Beeman R9 .177 cal with a Bushnell Banner scope. And so my addiction began. After building a shooting bench I purchased a Caldwell shooting bag and Shoot-N-C targets. What I thought was pretty good groupings after a couple of hundred break in rounds was vastly improved when I read about the artillery hold. The remedy for me was simply turning over the shooting bag which allowed the rifle to slide back on the smoother surface. The R9 after about 2000 rounds of its favorite pellets(CPHP)is consistently producing very tight groupings. The chrony readings that came with the R9 has gone from 875 fpm average to 895.(and oh yeah I just bought a chrony with computer).

Got a feeling this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Have already advised my kids that their inheritance is going to take a hit. Pro Sport on order.

Welcome, very nice to have you with us here on GTA.  You started off with a classic with that R9, absolutely beautiful rifles.  I have one in .177 and one in .22 and they have always been 2 of my favorite rifles.  From  your introduction it's very plain to see that you've been bitten really bad by the air gun virus  just like all the other air gunners here.    Congrats on ordering that pro sport... another amazing rifle.   I will eagerly be looking forward to your future posts and remember,, if you hunt with those shooters be sure to post the hunting stories and pics in the "Hunting Gate" as we just love hunting stories and pics

Thanks for the reply. I wanted a .22 cal and thought seriously about another R9 because it's such a well made rifle and so accurate. Choosing the PS probably more for the sake of variety, not to mention the positive reviews and it's suppose to be a little quieter. Getting it from Pomona and having Steve do a tune for me. Really excited and can't wait to get it in. And yes, the air gun  vampire went deep into the jugular. I'm probably gonna have to start attending those meetings. "My name is Terry and I can't stop shooting pellets".
