I'm currently working on a HW97 and here is a pic of the gun broken down.......

If you're talking about removing the barrel from the receiver I really don't have a clue since they are a single unit.

NCED.. Thanks for the reply. Let me Splain the problem that I am having. I took to heart your comments about Optically centering the scope, and then bending/adjusting the barrel for POI/POA. That made a lot of sense to me. The first thing that noticed was that it took VERY little force to adjust the barrel. I set it up using a straight edge until the distance at the front was the same as at the back of the barrel. Figured that I was "Home Free". When I started to assemble things, I noticed that the barrel just did not look like it was inline with the receiver. I remeasured things, and sure enough it was not. Humm? At this point I put it across my knee and applied a little pressure. the barrel/breech assembly moved where it is joined to the receiver. That slip fit is not tight enough.  Yep.. the darn thing pivots back and forth a few thousands with the sightless of pressure, and by the time that movement magnified by the barrel length it is a LOT. No wonder my shots were inconsistent. I could get a group going, and then move the rifle around and that group would be some where else, or even out in space somewhere! I contacted Weihbrach and they basicly said that they were too far away to do me any good, and wished me luck. My plan is to line up the barrel and the put a Spot weld at each side of the junction where the breech and receiver are joined. That should stop it from moving.

I will hold off until after Breakfast in case you have another idea... I'M ALL EARS! Thanks

Job is done... I was able to correct it without Spot welding. I used a drift and ball peen to move back the flared area at the back of the breech on each side, where it joins to the receiver. There was a .009 gap there. I closed that gap and now the barrel does not move. Well see.

They do make a "wicking thread locker" specifically for securing pressed studs. Perhaps this would help maintain the alignment!

TNX.. I might just add some of that to make sure. I'll see if I can leach some alcohol into the joint to get any oil out first.

New scope should be here Thurs... maybe I'll have time to give it a test drive before I leave on my hunting trip.
