What scope for a scout-set up?

I'm thinking of scoping my 342 Racine & would like to go with a Scout set-up. I'd like to use an IA Benjamin scope base. Any suggestions on a scope for such an application.

You are going to need a long eye relief scope like a hand gun scope.  The only one I have experience with is the bsa edge line. Not bad for the money but there are better scopes out there.

JH2742G-M (Mil-Dot) the only problem is it's not a true mil dot scope. it does have dots though 
so it's just a duplex retical with dots    but it has good glass nice and clear.
bought from wayfair for about $65. all in all I'm happy with the scope. I just wanted a true mil dot in a scout scope
The other scope I was looking at was the Nikon handgun scope with the BDC retical but I'm not sure how it would work for airgun ranges.
Don't get the scope with laser I ordered that one first but it is a PIA to adjust the laser. one of the set screws is next to the tube and it's tough to get at.

When I first got my Sheridan's I thought about a scope mounting system that would allow one to pump them up normally. So a pistol scope would be the best solution.
But at the Sheridan's range (at least for me) 25 to 35 yards I was able to decent groups with the Williams peep sight. Which really adds almost no weight to the total package. So that is the way I decided to go.
Here are two pictures that got me interested into possibly trying out a pistol scope.

Both methods look like they would allow normal pumping although the bottom one looks like the scope is too far forward.
As far as scopes just get the best you can afford and you should be good to go.

I had a NcStar Pistolero 2-7x32E I was going to use in a scout setup. Decent quality for the money; reticle was well defined and glass was clear. Changed plans and ended up giving to a buddy to try out on his .22. I don't think he's even used it yet though.

Objective is set to 50yds.

I have a 3x Tasco pistol scope on my '65 'Dan. I use a Ballistic Enterprises Integrebase scout mount with Weaver style rings to mount the scope on the rifle. Keeps the scope really low for a better cheek weld than taller mounts.
