Hi all,

I have a 79G that I am trying to tear down but can't seem to remove the receiver. I have loosened the barrel screw, the power adjustment screw and sleeve, and the casting assembly screw but the receiver will only lift up about 1/2" in the back and the front won't release.

Looking for some insight as to what I might be doing wrong. Here is a pick of it with the receiver as high as it will go without forcing it any further.

Look where the power adjuster is in front just below the barrel. You have to take that out then a pin like item is behind the screw it needs to come out before the gun will come apart. You might have to get some heat in there or some kind of penetrating oil to get that pin out sometimes they get gummed up a little. You also might have to put the frame screws back in and get that pin out first.

Thanks for your response to my question but I did remove the pin and the receiver will still not release.

It's been awhile since I tore down my 78g. Forgot you have to unscrew the outer screw where the power adjuster goes in. It should come apart then. Sorry about my brain fade.

I really appreciate your responses but I have removed all of that but still no go. Below is a pic of the parts that I have removed... It still won't come off.

Take a look at this link...has a 3 part dis-assembly guide. You might have to get the power adjuster sleeve out of the front of slide...you've got the adjusting rod out but it looks like the sleeve is still in yours.

Yup one more piece to get out. You might have to put the frame screws back in. Like I said it's been awhile since I had mine apart and I don't remember what I did yesterday

rap the muzzle end sharply multiple times into your palm or bench top to try knock it loose or wedge a pencil with some cloth tightly into the sleeve hole and see if you can pull it out???

It's not budging. I have an idea that I will work on tomorrow. I will post my progress back when done. Thanks again everyone for your input.

Hope you get it apart. These pistols are fun shooters.Possibly get some kind of lube or penetrating oil in there and let it work. Eventually it will come out.

Been years since I had one apart, but seems like I used an easy-out type tool. tap it in gently, twist and pull it out. Clean it up afterwards.

Well, so far, no luck. This piece doesn't seem to want to move. I have tried penetrating oil but still no luck. I need an extractor of some kind but am afraid I may damage the piece. Very frustrating....

Well I'll be. I forgot that I had purchased an extractor kit to work on an old Honda 125 a bought. It popped right. I can't believe I have been messing with this for a week and it came out so easily.

Now that I have it apart, I can see that the Transfer port that connects the barrel to the brass valve body is broken. Looks like it back to part hunting. Anyone know where I can find one?

Glad to hear you finally got it apart. Now might be a good time to do the orings too. I got my parts from mac1airguns. He has a kit with new valve stem . It works well.

I purchased the seal kit first. That's what started me on this adventure. I'm just waiting on a shipment. This gun is very simple to tear down once I got that tube out. Once this is done, I also have a 77a that needs sealed. Fun stuff...

Just a little tip for you when you go to put it back together. Hold the trigger back when you lay the hamer and spring in makes it a lot easier to keep it all together.
