Tis the Season to get Divorced.

My wife is driving me nuts with all this Christmas stuff.   It's not that I have anything against Christmas, it's my wife's buying habits.  Over the weekend she brought in enough stuff for the Macy's parade.   Which in and of it's self is not a problem.  The problem is that she already has the house bursting at the seams with the decorations from Christmas past. 100% unused.  And it is not just decorations.  It's wrapping paper, cards of all types, gift bags, wreaths.etc.
And what is the worst part??   At the end of every Christmas she will drag home a truck load of more stuff because, " It's on SALE!!!!".
And if I say anything about all the stuff I am rebuked with, " You just want to spoil Christmas for me".   How can you reason with that logic??

Am I alone in this predicament??   Think I'll look for some cave to live in for the duration.

Hey there Bogey,

Don't feel bad, my wife is the same way, only it's Halloween and then Christmas !

I have dealt with this for 35 years, and there is nothing in the world that can stop it, so I just gave up.

Now when were at a store, I just ask her if she would like this or that, and of course, my taste is not the same as hers and she just says that it will not match her other decorations

Just learn to live with it buddy, there's no way that we can win

BTW, I grew up with that...my Mom is a Christmas Decoration junky. You could probably have her decorate the Mall Santa station and it would still pale in comparison to her house. It's just something we grew to understand.

About 5 years ago I gave up doing Christmas lights. Refuse to touch them. The wife now puts as many lights up as she wants. The first year she put a good many and now....just the tree. Seems she found out just how much "fun" it is.
I will go and get the tree, cut down if necessary. Put it on top of the vehicle, tie it down and drive home with it. Will trim branches, cut the bottom of the trunk off. Will put it in the stand. Will put it wherever she wants. I'll water it every day. I will take it down and take it anywhere, burn it , whatever.
But will not ever, never touch another Christmas light.

The ex used to go a tad nuts around Christmas, - I ignored it, ... still do today. - As I always said - the best day of the year is January 2nd, when all this bs is over.

I guess I am lucky here, my wife takes a week off in November ( before Thanksgiving) and gets her shopping done. My daughter always wants mostly CDs and books and I get them online from half and Amazon. My daughter and I do all the decorations.

I've heard that most divorces are basically over money issues.

My ex-wife was a shop-aholic who hated the outdoors. She could spend all day at the mall and be glad to go back and do it all over again the next day !

My girl friend hates the mall and would much rather be camping and fishing !  The girl's sure got her priorities straight !!!

Sounds like some of our wives are from the same mold. I absolutely detest mall shopping but my wife thrives on it. She therefore has taken over the Santa duties in our household, and I am relegated to the Elf detail(could it be because I'm 5'3'tall?)
I don't even question the dollar amounts because she's the consummate bargain hunter in the family. And she always seems to find the nicest things for gift giving. However, every year as the tension from the holidays mounts, I do get a few cracks about never going to the mall to help her with the shopping. In reality, the only function I would be any good at would be as the chief pack mule!  This has gone on like this for the last 35 years or so, and the bottom line is that's she's Jewish!

My current wife (my 3rd) and I both hate shopping so I'm good with that. But, we are both poor with moeny so I have kinda taken over in the "together" spending area but we do have seperate checking accounts so I don't know what she spends her money on exactly.

Those Christmas decorations are probably cheaper
than a new house, and the associated cost of a divorce.
As long as you continue to have room to store
your air guns, let her enjoy the holiday.
Be glad she is not a crack addict or alcoholic.

I agree with you   My wife is a good mother, a GREAT COOK, puts up with my life long shooting, archery and hunting,,,, I decided to keep her, after all, where would I find another woman that would put up with me ??

And after all she does 90% of the decorating,, all I have to do is take her out for dinner on those nights she doesn't get a chance to make dinner   Not to bad a duty

My problem is that with Sherrie, it's not only Christmas, it's also all of the major holidays as well was the seasonal changes.    Drive me nuts to watch her. After about the first 15 years of it I now stand back and watch and tell her... "It's one of those do-it-yourself things honey"  I do help by getting the boxes down and then back up for her and sometimes unpacking and packing them but that's where it ends. But she enjoys it and that all that matters to me.

Well my wife grabbed me by the ear the other day and made me go shopping with her I went peacefully  and agreed on whatever she wanted to buy I will not trade her in its for sure she has taken well care of me these last 6 months and I am sure Bob or Gene can attest for that or any one that came to the South Carolina shoot. I would be lost with out her. Thanks David

LOL I feel your pain brother. My wife has an entire attick full of seasonal &^^&. Every holiday and every season has its own junk that I usually end up picking 1/4 of it up cause the dog murdered it all over the yard. We have 3 christmas trees already and this year she spent another $300+ ona 12ft tree! A 12 ft tree! Thank good ness for vaulted ceilings. Now we have 4 trees just in the house. 3 ft led lit one 2 7 footers and that monsterours one.  Chics are just nuts. I am glad we have all of our accounts seperated because what ever she spends dosnt affect my bills getting paid. SHe can spend what ever she wants. And I have my 20x 30 man cave out in the back yard so I always have a place to go hang out if I need to hide and enjoy my VO gold and pepsi.
