Crosman Premier Domed .22 question

I am contemplating buying a AA200MK3 in .22. I was curious about pellets so I went to Pyramid Air to look at their prices. I noticed a tin of Crosman Premier .22 Cal, 14.3 Grains, Domed, 500ct was $8.99 and a box of Crosman Premier .22 Cal, 14.3 Grains, Domed, 625ct was $25.99.

Why on earth is 125 more of the same pellet costing $17 more?

You could buy three 500ct tins for $26.97. For the extra 98¢, you would get 850 more pellets than the box.

The boxed pellets all come from the same die. The canned pellets could come from several different dies, some of which may be old and worn. Basically the tolerances are closer on the boxed ones.

Personally I've never had a problem with the tins.
Shoot fine in all 4 of my 22 cal rifles.
Snug fit in the breech works best in all of them.
My go-to pellet choice.
