HW50 scoping

Well question is that SWFA got back to me on price change and I can pick up the eclipse for 208.65 shipped to me. Boy tat's a lot of scope for that price. Next question is will that fit on my HW50s. The Hawke 4-16x50 Eclipse 30mm Riflescope has big objective lens. May have to pull off rear sight and do not know how hard that is. Definitely need a high mount.

The HW 50/50s is a light handy rifle of moderate velocity/power. Do you really need a scope of such magnitude? I have one coming soon and it will wear either a 4x32 or a 2-7x32; small, light, low line of sight and plenty of magnification for the gun's intended use. Either will not overpower the rifle cosmetically or functionally. Just my thoughts, tk

But that being said I really did not need the HW50s Other choice I'm throwing around is the
"Hawke Panorama EV RifleScope 4-12X40" for $239.00. I think it will do more than I need and a better fit cosmetically. Got the email from SWFA after I had thought the panoram was way to go. 208.00 for an Eclipse is a decent buy.

What I really like is the ability to get different forum opinions, advice etc. I did the same thing before I jumped onto the HW50s.

I think you're on the right track with the 4-12x40mm.
You'll get plenty of light, and magnification.  With medium mounts, you get a better profile too.  Enjoy.

I have a 2-7X32 on mine and find it perfect. I also have a 3-9 and 4-12 Panorama. Nice glass. The 3-9 will focus to 10 yards but the 4-12 will only go to about 12 yards.

To answer your question: yes, the front and rear sights on my HW50s were 'easy off' and presumably 'easy on'.  FWIW, I also question the need for a Mt. Palomar size scope on an HW50s.

Question no more, my mountain climbing days are done. Thank's all, I'm gonna go with the Panorama unit. I believe Motorhead started the Pano. hunt and Oldgringo just ended it.

Cool!   While a different venue...I know a lady up in the NW part of the state (who recently passed), who was into German Shepards. They were their "kids".    Her last years were as a National level judge.   I appreciate your work bud, I know what you go thru.  PS: any bird hunting for you? ?

I have hurried a lot of birds to their early demise, Pheasants/Quail/Grouse/Turkey/Geese/Duck and I don't have a clue as to how many pigeons killed during training. I have indeed been very lucky considering I spent 1st 26 years of life as a Chicago city boy.

YO Bulb!
There's loads of room on top that 50s.... Mine is currently wearing a Hawke Varmint SF..nice scope...but I'm considering the SWFA  Super Sniper 10x40 . The Sport HD 3x9x40 is also a very Nice scope. Enjoy!

Nothing but enjoyment. HW50s/RWS pellets are playing nice together. At 20 yards I am killing a lot of paper rabbits, 8 by 11 sheet with 6-1.5 by 2 inch rabbits and with 30 pellets shot all but 2 in rabbits and even managed 5 or 6 in bullseye areas. Now if I can get a munk to stand still for a second or two he's dead meat.

New scope should be here by Thursday. (more fun)
