Help me pick a Gamo

OK - narrowed down to these three:

Whisper in .22

Whisper Fusion IGT

Whisper CFR

I like the .22 cal in the Whisper, as it's common to the other guns in the collection so far.

Gun will be for small game and targets

Just curious.. does it have to be a GAMO ?  Have you looked at any other rifles ?  There's a lot of good rifles out there to choose from

And....if one of those good rifles should break you will be able to buy parts to repair it your self.

You know - I have just seen enough good reports on Gamo from guys that actually have and shoot them.  I like a lot of their designs, and lighter weights.

The Airgun Web review on the Whisper Fusion IGT looked really good - but not sure on the IGT.

I really like the CFR, but the stock puts me off - too funky in general.

I like the look of the fusion and really like MY whisper it makes me focus on technique when shooting which makes shooting the others easier

pretty good trigger on the cfr.  at first the stock was not much to look at, but after using it , it is very practical.  the raised cheek piece gives a great cheek weld, very nice recoil pad, and the synthetic material is quite tough. i took a fall with it  and just a minor scuff on it. now if it was my tx200 i would of cried.

I just tuned a CFR for another member on here and it was a real tack driver, the SAT trigger is nice but the GRT IV is better.....

As for the Gamo bashers and misinformers, ignore them, they are just jealous that they paid 2~3 times as much money for their guns and they don't shoot 2~3 times better....

As for the parts you can get any part you need for your Gamo, you just have to order it through a FFL dealer here in the US, that is a Gamo rule...

CFR.  Successor to the CFX which, in turn, was the BSA Superstar (Gamo owns BSA).  I would not hesitate to own another CFX.  The .22 is easier to load but I think the gun is better suited in terms of efficiency in .177.  Either is a good choice.

The CFR stock is very comfortable and it doesn't really look bad.

Springs, seals, stocks, and other items are available without FFL shipment. An actual phonecom with Gamo, will answer your concerns.  Not broad-based internet forum fodder/postings.   The aftermarket on the Gamo Line is long rooted, and doesn't really present problems to this forum community of members.

I have owned the following:

Gamo Whisper Fusion
Gamo Whisper Deluxe (this was my favorite)
Gamo Varmint Hunter
Gamo Hunter Sport
Gamo Hunter

and I can tell you first hand they are not a long-term option; if you use as your main gun for practice. If you are looking for something short-term they are great rifles, but if you are looking for something longer term (maybe 10 years life) get something more durable for which parts are available. Just my opinion with over 40k of pellets though these.

What's wrong with someone getting an introductory rifle?  They may lose interest, or just be a fun shooter, that wants a good time with popcans...and only fire 1,000 pellets a year?
I sure won't begrudge them.  Not everyone needs a $300.00 breakbarrel air rifle.

 The Gamo is exactly that, "Expedable", but great until it also is "off the list" , and on to other more reliable long-term air rifles.

I have a big cat 1250 tuned, tarantula spring, tesla seal, hammers scope, and cdt trigger and it's a tack driver. 5 pellets @ 30 yds within a dime. I'll put my BC up against anyone's high price AG.

I've been shooting both an IGT Silent Stalker and a tuned Big Cat, both gave GRT triggers.  I have to say that I favor the shot cycle on the spring powered Big Cat more than the IGT.  The IGT is just not as subtle as the tuned spring.  With that said, when both guns were in stock condition the IGT was the clear winner.

If you plan on tuning a spring version I'd go that way, if you're going to leave it as-is then the IGT is a good choice.
