Absolutely fun gun and easy to work on.
Makes you feel like a secret agent.

Probably my favorite gun to go out and play with.  With a 6x scope it is a good 15yd gun for exploding Tums.

Not a bench rest gun.  Good offhand, especially after a gas ram conversion.

Plenty of info around if you search patiently.

I have one. You can see a picture of it on A******s airgun blog from May this year. Mine is a .22, and with a good clean-up, lube tune, and top hat for inside the piston, it's a very nice shooter, and does about 530 fps with 14 gr. pellets. I'm not even tempted to do a gas ram conversion. I also did a bed liner finish on the stock, added an air soft can for looks, and a 2.5x shotgun scope. Fun to shoot and own!

I have one in .177 and one in .22      Both of them are fine shooters and a heck of a lot of fun.  Did a home tune on both and they turned out really nice.  I mounted a simple 4x scope on each gun and they give me superb accuracy out to 30 yards.  I've used both of them to take rabbits and squirrels inside of 30 yards with no problem with good shot placement (head shots).   Definitely fun gun, I'm glad I have mine

It's a fine ugly stick to beat on rabbits and squirrels! A little home tuning helps anything. Mine is a good 30 yard gun, and I'm still using the OEM flip-up drilled for a peep sight.

nice job on the finish, and good shooting with open sites. I never had any problems with the open sites on both my 57s but it was a struggle with my ageing eyesight. What shape are those pellets your using, pointed,flathead or domed.

Pellets are same as "Gamo Pro Magnum pointed"
Caliber: 4,5 mm "Diabolo" (.177)
Projectile weight: 0.490 grams (Projectile weight: 7.6 grains)

My .22 does good with RWS pointed but other wise CPHPs and wad cutters are the norm. My .177 won't shoot anything pointed but maybe I'll try some others, so far I have the best luck believe it or not with Daisy Hollow points, they fit the snuggest in the breach.

What's the outside diameter of the barrel (minus the front sight housing) for one of these in .22?

I can't remember exactly but its under 1/2" Because I was thinking of threading that portion but it was too small for 1/2x20.

a little new to this QB57 (I owe him that for his birthday!)

During a test, not with a telescope, but with a "Red Dot" cheap, too.

It is a Chinese clone (another one!), A 1x45 model, rather large but bright enough. And for € 12 (U.S. $ 15), we will not grumble ..... huh? And a lil Picatinny rail $3  ... Come roll youth!!

You will notice that the open sights is still active (in the lower fields of Red Dot) through the optical viewfinder, with a slight recovery of the woodwork cannon. This allows to overcome the extinction of oversights ...... dramatic for the red dot!

Here, the increase is down to let the visible front sight blade. Good brightness, even with the protections in place ...



The bipod on the barrel ...... great topic!    To isolate the vibration bipod, a neoprene band is sandwiched between the barrel and bipod .... effective!



For shooting at 20m, don't increased airgun performances but visual comfort is increased despite the absence of magnification.

Got mine last week took it to the range.  Shot left and sight would not move far enough to compensate.  Couple good wacks with my ballpien hammer and all is good.  I'm going to paint sights white so I can see them.

Duck is you one of those folks whose entire tool set consists of a variety of hammers from 4 oz to 16 lbs   the 4 oz is for finess right

I had to recenter the front muzzle break to rectify that condition on one of my 57s but I heated it first and turned it by hand and it stayed. Both of mine also benefited from redressing the crown but of course I temporarily removed the muzzle break to do it. I had an incident on my .177 where the set screw that secures the bear trap lever came out and it fell off as the gun misfired, I used blue loctite to reinstall.

I will heat up the front sight and adjust.  And well, yes I have a couple cowboy rifles and those rear sights are adjusted with a small hammer believe it or not.
