the guy laughed at me because he recognized me as buying 2500 of them the other day, now i just bought another 1500.

I don't know if this is too political, but here goes.
I don't 'do' WallyMart.
It takes a while, but google the number of companies who in the past had manufacturing plants in North America...who were supplieres to Walmart...and eventually moved their plants to China to stay in Walmarts good graces because Walmart continually pressures their suppliers to lower their prices...though the costs to the supplier are on the rise.
So the next time you (if you are in the manufacturing sector), or a family member, or a neighbor loses their job because of outsourcing to China...well, there you go.
As well, many of us buy our airguns from nice, local, friendly specialty shops (because WalMart doesn't carry a Diana or a Mrod), but then buy all the consumables from the Big Box. Then they bemoan the little guy going out of business because where are they going to get their less common trinkets.
Support the little guy!!

You do have a point. Classic case - Rubbermaid. When the Rubbermaid rep for WalMart talked to them about the upcoming year's sales contract, they were met by someone who was clearly lower in the WalMart heirarchy (not equal to the sales rep) and were told that Rubbermaid would supply WalMart at a price that was less than the current year's contract. Rubbermaid countered that increases in the cost of raw materials, alone, required a slightly higher price. WalMart told them that, if they did not meet WalMart's new price, their products would no longer be sold in their stores. Rubbermaid declined, lost what they discovered was over sixty percent of their market and had to shut down their original plant. (Incidentally, that plant and machinery was sold off at auction, some going to China.) Not the first nor last time that WalMart has done this. Locally, WalMart likes to go into a town and systematically drive out the local Mom and Pop competition. You end up with more selection but no depth to it. Try finding a specific plumbing fixture at WalMart and you'll see what I mean. WalMart doesn't really care about the local environment, either. Check out the WalMart they want to put adjacent to the Wilderness battlefield in Virginia. The US Park Service has already stated that the increased traffic on the roads there will ruin the park.

Thanks RedFeather...sometimes the reaction I get to my WalMart feelings is that I'm just and old crank
I feel this way from semi-first hand experiece. We used to have a very good airgun seller in the town where I live.
He sold most Diana, Weirhauch and Webley, and would special order anything you wanted. Also did his own repair and tuning. Had just a little storefront in a strip mall.
Anyhoo, one day I was off to see him and he had a 'going out of business sale' sign in the front window.
As he related, 1/2 of his profit was in the accessories. Pellets, hearing protection, shooting glasses, etc.
Then WalMart built two stores in our town and all of sudden he lost most of this accessory business.
What was really annoying was that other than closeout stuff that WalMart sells, most of his prices were within 10-20% of the chain.
So we lost a great, knowledgable dealer because people were out to save a buck on a $10 tin of pellets or a pair of safety glasses.

You're not crazy. There was a good documentary on WM came out on cable a year or so ago, which is where I got the Rubbermaid story. WM also tried to build out near the Cedar Creek battlefield here in Virginia but the townspeople actually put up such a fuss, also protecting their small businesses, that WM backed down. The Wilderness (Spotsylvania County) business is gaining national attention. There's only one road through the park, as I understand it, which is not a good thing to begin with. If WM goes in, the traffic there will be horrendous. I lost a distant relative in the Wilderness, so it's kind of sacred ground, at least to me.
