R-7 Problems?

after 40 years since last air rifle and doing a bunch of reading on them I bought a R-7 with 4-12x Scope 2 years ago. Ordered it one day here the next. took it out of the box that night when I got home from work and thought this is not my old Crossman! When I was looking it over I noticed what looked like at some point they had tape around air chamber that when they removed it, it left this flaw in bluing around air chamber about 1" back from where barrel locks in,I have seen this in seaveral other photos of R-7s, also on left side right where this mark is there is a small and I mean small dipple in metal smaller than a point of a needle. After 50 years of living I know when you buy anything theres always chance its going to have a few flaws and these didn't look like they would effect how this gun functioned. I have fired about 3000 pellets through it, this thing is far more accurate than I am and so much fun to shoot that I haven't shot any of my powder burns in a while. picked up a IZH 46m and thinking of a HW 30 with peep in near future. Now my issue after I fire it and put it in gun cabinet the next day when I take it out I notice a small bit of moisture where that dipple is on air chamber. Wipe it off and shoot 100 pellets and theres nothing there put it away for the night next day there is the small spot again. Is this just on the surface or coming out of air chamber? so small amount that cant tell if its oil or moisture, you think if it was coming form air chamber it would show up while I was shooting it but after 100 shoots theres nothing there, also put my finger over it when shooting you think you would feel air coming out of it? I don't feel anything. When they sent it to me they sent a chronograph reading 8.18 grain pellets Av about 575, shot it through my pact chrono. with 7.87 gr 470 Av. thought maybe it was reading bad so shot through my brother inlaws got the same 470 AV. three different pellets ex spreads were all 17.1,16,15.8 still as accurate, no up and down Vel. spreads just seems slow what should I be looking for, or just send it in for a check up? Thanks deathray

Don't put in the gun cabinet for at least one day after you shoot it Let it breath. I would also leave the door open on the cab for a few days.

lay some tissue paper over the dimple and shoot it . if the paper moves up you have a small hole in it . it will move back but if it flys up you have a problem . can you post us some photos of the dimple and the moisture ? sometimes a photo says more than words

in 1939 hitler said give up your guns and germany will be a safer place... then a short time after all guns were taken ,he told the jews "board the train" a word in histroy

I have the same mark on my 30S. I believe it is just the solder or brazing mark where they attached the "fork" end. As for the dimple, it might be a thin spot and the moisture could be condensation. Your velocity is quite low. Could be time to change seals and spring.

Yep - my 30S has the same mark on it as well, but no dimples. But you can surely see the color dif. in the blueing.
