Growing in Air Guns - Springers or PCP / CO2

OK - I only have one AG right now - an HW30S in .22 cal. 

Trying to decide between making a spring compressor and sticking with springers, or selling the 30S and getting a Disco and / or  the Hammerli 850, and moving away from springers.

If you were at the beginning stages like I am what would you do?

I like to target shoot, and plan on getting back in to some bunny and squirrel hunting.

You have a nice springer now, why not keep it and buy a Disco too?  To start out with a Disco and a pump would be a good step.  Your accuracy will improve as well as your muscles from pumping it up  Down the road you might want to invest in a bulk air tank so you can fill the Disco with ease.  How many airguns are too many?  Don't ask anyone here.

Good springers, especially fixed barrels, in balanced power and calibre, IMO, are simple, inexpensive,  and rewarding to shoot.

Hey Bullit - I just checked, and Gamo does have the old CFX stock for sale on their site.  The CFR may be my next.  How hard is the CFR/CFX to cock?

Marc ,u have a great starter ag and if i was you i,ll stay with it ...hw 30,s is a great target ag for more power a disco with pump is a great addition ....jorge

+1 for fixed barrel springers! I have 2. Diana Model 54 and Air Arms TX200 MkIII.

Keep the hw30 and save for pcp. It one thing I've learned over the pass few years in airguns that you always and I mean always think about your first and your first AG is considered one of the best. My first was a Gamo  that I tuned with RFM tune kit, CDT trigger, and a wood stock for Gamo , man it was NICE. Just a great shooter and still as you can tell that AG holds a place in my heart. So keep the springer and buy a pcp .

Like the previous poster said, don't dump the HW. They're great guns.

Don't ever get rid of a gun that's working for you, especially a springer. If anything farts out with a PCP, you'll always have your go-to gun, ready to get the job done.

Hi Marc;
I'm new to Air Guns too. I've agonized through some of the same decisions my self. I did indeed want a PCP... but having checked around, I find that it would be a major inconvenience for me to get it filled. There is just simply no "filling Station" anywhere close to me. That put me into the position of needing my own equipment to fill the gun/tanks... which of course, was a very large investment. So.... I decided to go with a High quality Spring gun... which I did... I bought a HW95.. it has not even arrived yet, and I'm just "all a-gog" waiting for it. What I think I will do, is purchase one of the inexpensive 78s from Dragon, find myself a good deal on a LARGE supply of CO2 cartridges, and let nature take it course.... If I fall in love with the compressed gas guns, then I can reevaluate things and see, at that time, if I really want to make the hugh investment. I'm pretty sure that I will keep the HW95, simple because it is always ready to go... but, I should be able to at least get a taste of the Gas guns without spending much money.
