TX200 vs RWS 460

OK Guys... I've been following the responses on my MAV77 posting. Got a email from Crosman that said release date is mid September... I wrestled with this for the past week, but that last post kind of  hit home.... when he said "If you want a TX200, then get a TX200" It reminded me of years ago when my Bro in Law was lamenting about some Imitation Bacon that he was eating for Breakfast... I told him "If you want bacon..... buy bacon".  So I decided to jump and get the TX200... called PA.. but they didn't have one in Walnut. The kid I talked with said that he thought the RWS 460 was a better rifle.

DANG! Now I'm back on the fence... don't know which is the best. I would sure appreciate some input and feed back on this. Please share your thoughts with me.

What are you planning on using it for - punching paper, hunting, plinking, etc.? That would help
narrow the decision a bit.

Cannot compare the two.  Completely different beasts.  I've only shot a 460 a couple of times and that enough for me.  I'm not a magnum springer guy.  I prefer 12fpe with 14-15 being top-end.

also note , the good people at PA do work on commission.....and it's always easier to sell something you have in stock than something you don't.

Tnx for the feedback. I now have a cheap QB36 Chinese .177 that I bought for $29.95 a number of years ago. It's not any beauty, in fact it's as Ugly as a "Mud Fence", and has very little power.

I also have a Hatman 125 with the Camo stock in .22. It actually shoots pretty dern good, and has a whole lot of power.. however, the front muzzle brake and sight are not on straight. I guess it wouldn't matter if I were to put my new scope on it... but I don't like the High mounts, and if I use some low ones I would need to just cut off the front sight any way. I've pondered just sending it back and getting a Top Notch Gun. (Wish I just done that to start with) Being up in hills and so far from any fill station, I've about ruled out the PCP guns, even though that Marauder sure looks good.  I'm not a rich man, but at this point in time I don't have to turn in the Hatman in order to get a TX200, but if the TX200 would work just as well for hunting, it would be better than having one just sit in the safe. Is the TX200 in .22 a good choice for Hunting, or should I just keep the Hatman for Hunting, and get the TX200 in .177 for targets and "Drool" effect?

I'd go with the TX every time. IMO its plenty enough gun to do the job and the accuracy and workmanship speak for themselves.

I have no personal info on the RWS, but I'm happy with my Air Arms.

if availability of walnut is an issue to you, you might want to consider the beech.  Having owned, for a short time, both stocks on a Tx, I think you'd find that the walnut is verrrry nice, but I have to say that the beech is verrry nice (i had to send the walnut back for mechanical issues).  That is to say, I'm glad I didn't wait around for an unknown amount of time for walnut to come back in stock, and i have a new, gorgeous Tx to shoot, and I don't care so much about the difference between the woods.  Maybe I'm just impatient.  You get the fine fish scaling on both.

TX in a heart beat.....although they are 2 very different guns it's VERY hard to beat Air Arms quality!! Mine is beech also, impatient, and it's an awesome rifle!!

  Although Joe is usually the worst enabler I'll take a shot (pun intended) at it. Both the TX 200 MKIII and the Diana 460 are under levers and extremely accurate the TX is definitely prettier and extremely accurate out of the box. The Diana 460 is every bit as accurate and hits harder I have both and can't decide which lady I prefer to shoot it depends on whether I am in the mood for refined or tough both are fun to shoot. MY answer is buy both just make sure to sell me the TX in.177 if you don't like her

I have a leg in both camps...

I have a 470TH .22 (which is still a 460 at heart). I want a TX200 and plan to buy one before the end of the year... Accuracy, well, that's usually up to the shooter. Quite often the rifle is capable of outshooting the shooter's talent,, like in my case,, I couldn't hit anything unless I am in a shooting mood (blood pressure is nice 'n' low and the head is wrapped around the task at hand),, then I might do well. I haven't shot the 470 much at all but I do like the rifle very much. It appears to be a very well made and accuracy capable rifle and likes Crosman Premier pellets.

No matter which one you get, I'm sure you'll love it like it was the only airgun in the world - until the bug bites again.. Been there done that,, many times..!!

I have an RWS Model 54, and it is beastly, yet recoil is nothing as it is recoilless. But if I had to choose between it, and my TX200, no contest. TX wins hands down. And I love my Model 54. The TX is just that good. Got mine in walnut. She's an English beauty!

I tried to come up with an argument against this but just can't think of one.  You have no choice but to get both

There you have it the general consensus is if you can only have two air rifles then it is imperative  that Diana 460 and Air Arms TX 200 mkIII are the springers of choice  now lets here from the other enablers
