New Remington .177 NPSS

I had my new remington npss .177 out yesterday. I have about 100 rounds through it. Now comparing it to my benj trail NP XL1100 it seems louder. It seems to have a sharper sound to it.
I chrony it and all looks well. Does this sound normal a smaller caliber is louder??

Congrats on the new arrival!!!
First off, what rounds are you feeding it? You need to stick with 7.9gr or heavier. I'd actually recommend Crosman Premiere Ultra Magnums 10.5gr. If you're shooting light stuff, like PBA ammo, you're breaking the speed barrier at over 1080fps and getting a sonic pop from the rounds. If you ARE using a heavier round, you may be getting detonation and should clear up after a few more rounds.
Keep us informed.
Happy Shooting!!!!

Nope not playing with that light stuff but I know what you mean they really have a crack to them. I am shooting gamo rockets and I chrony them at just under 900fps and jsb heavy exacts which are just over 10 grams and I chrony them just over 800 fps.

Most likely, this is mainly an indication of the newness of your NPSS.
It's not anywhere near broken in just yet, and the firing cycle and noise level should smooth out quite a bit after around 1000 shots.
Just keep shooting, and Dave is right to advise pellets.
The Ultra Magnums are excellent performers.

Mine seems pretty quiet, with over 1000 rounds of JSB exact heavies thru it. The pellets hitting my metal pellet trap are way louder than the gun.

I thought my NPSS .177 was on the loud side until I had my wife fire a few rounds through her while I stood back about 15 feet then it sounded like a staple gun, quite quiet!

Sounds like I will have to get some more rounds through it. I didnt have this problem from my XL1100 it was quite right out of the box.
