Thought I Would Mention Issues With GTA Being Down The Last Couple Days

Well I was away from computer over thanksgiving. But got log files sent to my emial with GTA server problems. It seems we are to the next step for upgrading our server.

Need to up memory allocations for data base. Will be looking into this and the additional cost per month this week.

Everything should be ok for a while. Did a work around on SQL server and disc space allocation.

Hi Dave and thanks for bringing up the donations factor and it is a little disappointing.   

We haven't had enough donations to keep pace with the costs and there were only 5 donations so far this month with 2 days to go.  We had hoped that enough donations would come in to offset the monthly forum expenses but it appears that it is to be so. That said, Gene and I do want to thank those that have contributed.

I will make a post after the end of the month regarding the situation.

I know that one of the driving forces for the forum is that it is THE paramount source for AG info and camaraderie, but there's no reason that it be free if it's at the expense of others. The forum is currently at more than 1,500 members. I think that there could be some way to generate some operating funds without ruffling too many feathers. Perhaps we should charge a minimal fee ($1-$2) to be able to post on the forum or to access the library. I know this is a bit against the grain, but I think it might get the job done. The auction did generate some geldt; but I really was surprised by the "turnout"(12 members), particularly due to the fact that there were 3 or 4 posts from guys interested in buying that exact scope during the time the auction ran. Not one of them entered the drawing!??

i don't think this is a bad idea at all...if you want to post or get into the gta libray you should give to the fund. if every member chipped in 2 bucks, the server upkeep costs  would not be an issue.i LOVE the gta and try to help where i can.this place is my facebook LOL! and have learned so much and met some awesome airgun brothers.I'm sure I'm not the top donar but i do what i can...i thought the raffle was a great idea and cant figure out how it wasn't a bigger success?? i bought 10 tickets for 15 bucks and couldn't be happier to have helped, well i coulda won the scope...LOL...i recently sold a book on the gta and said if you are a doner the book is 40$ and if your not...(shame on you!)the book is 50 and I'll donate 10 for you...from now on if i sell anything on the gta classifieds I'm charging an extra 10 bucks to kick back to the gta!!!...........long live the gta.......i hope "members" remember to be "donors"..........Bart...infact, i think i'll go donate right now.....

Hey crowpoper, sorry you missed the boat, As it turned out, the winner had 3 tickets entered, and if my calculations are correct, the odds of his winning was 1in28.
