Hawke Sindwinder 30 preference

Looking to buy a Sidewinder 30 and my question is what is everyones preferrence in reticle, 1/2 mil dot 20x or the SR Pro?

Also what size rings would I need for a Marauder? I have mediums now but would they work with a 56mm objective?

I am strictly a target shooter (out to 30 yards) and the 1/2 mil dot works great for me.  My last three scopes have been Hawke with the 1/2 mil dot.

i love my sr pro reticle


its imo the perfect airgun/crossbow reticle,
being that the distance between the aim points increase as you go down the reticle.

(very closely matches the actual trajectory of a projectile, in that the distance between yardage markers increases as the distance increases)

you use the magnification ring to set the reticle to your guns trajectory.


so for my airguns,
with the magnification set around 10.5x

using a 50yd zero i get aim points in 10yd increments out to 150yds 


and with my scorpyd crossbow set at 5x with a 20yd zero i get aim points in 5yd increments out to 70yds


its nice not having to keep a range card showing where each mil dot hits,

just range your target and count down the aim points on the reticle till you get to your yardage,
simple and much quicker than mil dots.

I've got two Hawke Sidewinders with both reticles, both bought used within the last month. Just got my SR Pro version this week & I'll take it over the mil dot version any day! No contest. I'll only be buying Hawkes with the SR Pro reticle from now on. Actually looked at a couple of other scopes with similar reticles, christmas tree, & I always come back to the Hawke. Just far better than anything else I've found so far.

As i told, the "20x mil dot" votes are from people im sure than didnt looked trought the new SR PRO.

I think Im gonna try the SR Pro. Here is what I was thinking

Now what size scope rings? Will this fit in medium height Leapers I already have or do I need high ones?  The UTG scope I have mounted now is a 44mm objective and there is room between the scope and the barrel

Any problems with the Hawke rings? I read somewhere here someone had problems with them? He never gave numbers though so maybe they were the sport rings not the match?

I know how to use Mildots,  so the 1/2 Mildot just meant more precision to the standard.   I don't know about what 20x means, but I do know that it is 1/2Mil @ 10x, so maybe that's what they're talking about.  Nonetheless...Mildots for both axis.

No problems.  Both sets are on PCPs so I really don't expect problems.

Sidewinder 30 was delivered today.  Sould have gotten it yesterday but I wasnt home to sign for it.  My wife is on vacation this week so we have been doing little day trips with the kids.  Probably mount it on the Mrod Friday and sight it in.  I will post pictures when its all mounted up. Thanks again Chris (starlingassassin) for the hook up. 



PS Chris the sport HD didnt come yet, its back ordered from Hawke.  I will let you know when I get it
