Hammers SA3-9X40AO mini review

I've had my Benji Titan NP for about 6 weeks and two tins of CPHP pellets. Home made pivot washers, pivot bolt shims and Steve's trigger installed but still seemed to have a mind of it's own at times. I suspect the included CP 4X32 as being the problem.
After a week of evenings reading on the web and a quick review of the money tree, A Hammers was ordered from Amazon. It came in record time but I found it loose in the box, no plastic wrap, no padding and no instructions .
Although everything seemed in order with the scope showing no signs of ever being used it just didn't seem right that a scope this nice would come bouncing around in the box.
The scope weighs in at 1LB, 6.3oz or 633 grams with mounts. The CP only about 12oz. The translucent caps are clear enough to keep on the scope while shooting if you desire. The included mount is very nice one but might leave a true novice scratching their head getting it properly mounted without instructions. A neat little trick to get the scope plumb is to take one of the included hex keys and use it as a spacer/gauge between the bottom of the scope and the top of the mounts.
As with any break barrel rifle you never know of the scope is going to be any where near the same axis as the barrel. My first shots proved my barrel droops and instead of spinning the elevation knob wildly, I chose to shim the rear mount. I cut three pieces of .005" brass, one 1/2" x 3/4", one 1/2" x 1/2" and one 1/2 x 3/8" and stacked them to better cradle the scope. A few shots late last night under the lights tells me this may be close enough to start adjusting on a target.
So far, I am very impressed with all aspects of this scope from the ease of adjustment, to the range accuracy of the AO to the way the eyepiece focus works. As mentioned, I only got it mounted after dark yesterday so weather permitting, today might bring some shooting and a further review.

I almost bought this same scope. Looking forward to an update on how it is doing for you. I did get some warranty info from a supplier of Hammers.
Hammers scopes have a limited lifetime warranty offered through the importer:
Wing- Sun Trading, Inc.
15501 Heron Ave
La Mirada CA 90638
Hopefully you will not need the warranty. If you do here is the info.
I have a cheap 3-7x20 Hammers scope I have on a pneumatic air gun. It works, but didn't expect much from a $13 scope.

Rain day today limited my shooting to taking pot shots off the front porch at the Gamo spinner target set up 90' away. The old Center Point might hit one of the approx. 1 sq in target only after re adjusting the scope. The Hammers his been spinning them about 4 out of 5 shots all day long with me using a half-a$$ed rest leaning against the side of the house. I have to move some projects around in my shop and set up my shooting table for some 10 meter target work. Maybe tomorrow morning.
I looked at my packing slip and the scope came from the same address listed above. A company called Treadpro. I am going to fir them off an email asking about the instructions and packing of the scope.

Just a quick update on the Hammers: I have about 200 pellets through it and it sure is nice not having to sight it in every time I shoot. The mount hasn't loosened a bit nor has any other part of the scope been affected by the vibration of the gun. The optics are clear and the crosshairs are thin but distinct.
I have a keeper and might buy another for some of my rimfire and small centerfire rifles.

1,000 pellets later and all is well. I have decided to get another for a .22 Rimfire.

Tho it isn't the same model, I have had a Hammers 3-9x42mm Compact mounted on my 12fpe springer for over 6 years, and it has been a good liteweight scope for me. It actually focuses down to 8 yards, which is a plus.
Hammers designed this line of scopes for full auto AR types, which steered me trying one. I am a fan now, as I've got a few thousand miles on it!
Enjoy

I had a few spare hours today and tore the Titan to pieces. The process involved removing the scope and the scope mounts from the rifle. I am very happy with what I saw in regards to where the scope mounts to the rifle. I found nothing. No signs whatsoever of moving at all. Mind you I had the gas piston out to measure it, give the gun a general 2,000 shoot tune up and clean and the rifle. It is now printing the same nice 3/4" groups at 25 YDS with POI change about 1" Heck, that 1" could be all in the barrel pivot! Now, the 3/4" group is from my Hickory nut hunting position. Standing on my front porch with my right hand on the left side of a colunm, finger pointed at the nuts. I rest the rifle's uderside notch on my forefinger and the nuts just explode. Gotta go. Out of pellets.

2,000 round update: I sure do like this scope. It has not moved one bit on the Titan. A very solid, well built piece of equipment. Be back in another thousand rounds for another update.

3,500 round update. Yawn. What can I say. This scope works and works well. Nothing exciting, aim, squeeze, hit. Time and time again. I just found a NIB Diana 45 and I may remove the scope on the Titan for accuracy tests on the Diana. It has become a trusted piece that I can depend on.

Yeah Man! They work. Your Benji Titan NP has been a good test of your scope's "guts".

I have one of these and it did real well up to a bit over 1k rounds then the plastic elevation knob blew up under recoil. It did have a crack for quite a while and might have come from the factory like that. I think I'm going to try another as my D350m was pretty harsh when new, now it is a different beast all together. I also ordered the 32AO version for my son's D34 so will do a review on both when I feel I have enough rounds through them for a review. Love the one piece mounts!
