While we are on the subject of stocks, I am thinking that it would be nice to save my good walnut stock for showing my friends and shooting at a range. Are there any composite stocks available for field use? Thinking I could swap stocks depending on what I want to do.

I see these come up for sale now and then. Never seen a synthetic for the TX. But keep in mind, walnut stocks are very easy to care for and last a long time.
I use teak oil. Soaks in the wood and doesn't build up on the surface
Teak oil doesn't get real shiny. However, once you have a few coats in it, you can use a good paste wax and things shine up nice but without the polyurethane artificial look.Update on my stock. I just got an email from Andrea (the stock maker). Stock will be finished THIS WEEK. He included a pic of how it looks now. I am pumped
