My TX200 finally settling down.

As I have reported in my previous posts, my new TX200 MKIII was shooting poorly right out of the box. It was also twangy and smelling like an old diesel truck even after 1000 shots. After a warranty trip back to Pyramyd for cleaning (they also replace the seal while they had it there) it got a little more accurate,  but still not satisfactory.

Last weekend I installed a SP2 12 fpe kit with the O-ring seal. And now, not only  cocking an the  shot cycle are completely transformed, there is no twang, and the rifle is much quieter, but what's most important to me, the accuracy is much better.  I only tested it at 35 ft with JSB 4.51mm pellets, but even at that distance the improvement is dramatic as you can see with these 5-shot groups.



Hopefully soon I'll have a chance to check her at 100 ft.

 The 12fpe Vortex kit is fantastic.  If you have any 4.52 JSBs give them a try also.

Absolutely!  I have plenty of  JSBs 4.52 and also AAs 4.51 & 4.52 and FTTs in  4.51 & 4.52, plus some assorted pellets from RWS. Now, the quest for the best pellet can really commence. Before, I was just wasting lead.

You'll be surprised on how the wider head pellets (4.52mm) can give a better seal and produce more velocity. My TX loves the 4.52mm pellets but it still produces nice groups with the 4.50 size, the Chrony reports the tightest spreads with the larger pellets. It's nice to see the improvements with your TX shooting, Sasquatch. Keep us updated on the next batch of tests.

What a difference between your Before and After targets. Sounds like it will only get better. Did you use moly or Krytox when you installed your latest kit?

I'm a traditionalist, hence moly! I used the light colored tar that came with the kit on the spring, though.

It took ~120 shots with the new seal for me.
