BNM shroud length question

I am planning to use a 14" backpacker 22 barrel for a project. I am thinking of getting a BNM shroud and breech for it. How long should the shroud be? Is there a rule of thumb for barrel vs shroud length?

Edit: I watched the video link on BNM's website and the guy was shrouding a Disco, and he was allowing 6 inches on his shroud beyond the actual barrel length. Seems like a good rule of thumb.

The more shroud out front, the more baffles you can insert. Six inches sounds like a good general rule. I had a 21" shroud on an 18" Crosman (@15" in front of the breech) and it looked right.

Don't forget the foam pads inside the bnm shroud and a small vent hole in the shroud near the breech end too as they both really help quieten it even more. I use four strips of 4" long x 1" wide x 3/8" high magic eraser foam wrapped around the barrel in spirals like a staircase starting just a couple inches past the end of the barrel and ending before the vent hole.

So your saying start winding in a spiral from the end of the barrel all the way down in front of the vent hole?
