Got 30 days from PA. Darn if I have issues it will be another AA if I do not go to the DARKSIDE!

well that use to be true! HW's are now on most people's not to buy list as a new gun! HW has been turning out allot of bad guns in the past few yrs and their QC has gone down hill!   bad triggers, rusty compression tubes, bent barrels and the list go's on I'm sorry to say a once fine company has slipped away!

And I have been drooling over this? Not any more.

I have that same gun minus the stock.............mine is the black synthetic.  Best all around gun I have hands down if that means anything.  Seems to me "we" have started a "fire in the movie theatre" before seeing smoke or fire now on all HW's by a few post.  I can show just as many possibly AA issues but really don't see them warranted when you consider the hundreds to thousands sold to the one bad.

Folks I truly believe Petey's issues are quite possibly a model issue.  But I guess that means more HW's for me if no one wants to buy them!!!

Well as long as people keep posting bad stuff about these high end guns, I guess I'll stick to China's top of the line and save my money.  Never bought a B19 with a bent barrel or rust, and I'm having a lot of fun with my new Trail.  Just saying...

I think the point here is that HW has had some issues more then usual in the past few yrs and it still seems to be going on and they need to seriously get a handle on it! nobody is saying HW's are junk by any mean's but their some issues that need to be addressed that are being over looked the questions were being asked so I just thought I'd share my info that has been talked about by myself with other form members and some of the importers who have shared info to us about the issues with HW

I have 2 HW's - one a new HW30S and it is smooth and sweet and not a hint of a problem.

To the original poster - you are considering a very fine airgun, one very much worth having. Here is what I would do:

- call AoA during their normal business hours. See if you reach someone or made to wait on hold a long time, discuss your possible purchase, see if you are satisfied with their earnestness and pre-sale support. This is a good test.

- ask them if they will open the box, visually inspect the gun, pop a few pellets downrange and observe for obvious defects. If all good, send her to you. If they won't gladly do this simple request I would pass. I suspect they will.

Frankly, you could substitute Air Arms, Daystate , Diana, FX  for HW in the above post and it would be still be 100% accurate.

Air Arms has made springers with bad seals, pellet clipping issues and PCPs with $80 magazines that do not function.

Daystate has shipped $3K Field target rifles- the Grand Prix- to the US that would not work and which took the threat of lawsuits to get fully backed by the factory.

The Chinese barrels on recent runs of Diana rifles marked MADE IN GERMANY speaks for itself...

FX sells guns with nearly as many seal issues as Crosman does per thousand guns sold. They also had a bad run of LW barrels which led to them building their own "smooth twist" tubes in house..

SAKO had a 50 year rep for great quality in the US until a few years ago when they shipped a few rifles that BLEW UP during normal use!
Sako is still makes a good gun and so does Weihrauch, IMHO.

Petey's  R-9 issues look to be more of a QC issue with a specific run of Beeman R-9s (like the exploding Sakos) than something endemic with the whole line of Weirauch rifles as a whole.

You guys got me thinking I should quit buying anything new, and stick to airguns at least 10-15 years old, from reputable folks on the GTA!

AOA is not the only game in town  when it comes to HW dealers. Stave at Pamona Airguns will match their prices and he test fires the guns before he ships them.

Also Jim Stanis at Precision Airguns in MI does the same thing I believe. Both shops have sold HWs for a long time.

i have not contacted pamona but  the response from straight shooters was that they could not get the hw95 luxus...i'll try pamona.

Pamona lists a beautiful r9 that looks just like the "luxus" but not in .22   . i'll give them a call though.

I think your best bet with any springer is to learn how and fix it yourself.  As soon as you get your hands on it run a couple tins through her within the first week to determine if it has no defects, and when the spring wears out it's time to de-bur/lube and put a fresh spring and seal in with the right lube in the right places.  There is not a "service center" in the world I would trust my airguns to.  Either do it yourself or send it to a reputable tuner.  Just my 2 cents

I've had 2 out of 4 guns have to go back almost immediately. one was a the x20 from a r c h er. even though i got the 10/10 test. he told me to send it back to stoeger.
i'm not talking about wear and tear. i want to know where it goes when it fails under warranty. i can't find who the weihrauch importer is.

+1 but PA is not perfect either. My spring broke on my TX after 2 months, and then it had problems again. PA admitted they made a mistake, but only gave me $20 in bulls eye bucks for reimbursement (cost me $30 each time I shipped it to them) on my 2ND time I shipped it to them. They did admit to their mistake, and for that reason alone I will continue to do business with them.

Learn how to spell  the word "break" first..

Actually, if there is a really bad QC issue, HW tends to deal directly with the customer shipping replacements through dealers. I feel Petey had a problem with his  recent Beeman servicing because Pyramid Air IS Beeman as far as the German made stuff goes.

Like AOA with having a monopoly on Daystate and FX , Pyramid is the sole service center for Beeman, Air Arms, Evanix etc.. In their greed I feel they both have bitten off a bit more than they can chew with regards to servicing those rifles over time.

In concert with that greed, Both AOA and Pyramid benefit from a pretty finely tuned "protection racket" over on the Yellow forum as paid advertisers there. NO serious issues with those guns OR the dealer service are EVER allowed to stay posted there long. It all gets swept under the rug promptly.

HW has no exclusive importer in the US. You might contact them directly in Germany and see who they recommend in the US. Be blunt with them, tell them your concerns and see what they say.
