I was just on Pyramydair and noticed that the M-rod pistol ad now shows the pistol without the Red Dot scope and the description has also been changed so that the red dot is no longer included. Hmmm, wonder why the change ??

My guess is a cost issue, and trying to keep
the price down. I believe that their early
announcements (What? a year ago) were
more to gauge interest and comments.
I remember seeing in other forums that
the red dot did not receive favorable
interest. Personally, would prefer not to
have to "buy one" along with the pistol.
I have never cared for them and it would like most,
(I think) wind up in a box and replaced
by a decent mil dot scope.
Just my 2 cents.
I have seen diagrams of the new trigger, and it looks
like it could be a winner.

Customer Service told me they probably wouldn't be including the red dot. I didn't get into why with them... coulda been based on field feedback, or just the added dollars for something a lot of people don't want, in a competitive market.
I think the pistol will be capable of greater accuracy, especially in carbine mode, than a red dot will allow at distance.

I just thought it was interesting that they removed the included red dot but didn't lower the price at all
I always found a red dot decent to hunt with at closer (pistol) ranges, but I guess I can understand most people opting for a more conventional scope.

On the Crosman site, the first 100 were $419.00, so they gave a $30 credit over the original published price for knocking off the red dot.
I imagine they'll be $389 or less everywhere after January or so, based on the Marauder rifle history. Poor Pyramid will have to catch up a little- they went out on a limb cataloging so far in advance. In fairness, this wasn't their fault. It's just business with a new product introduction. I can empathize a little.
I think Crosman just realized they weren't hitting a price point because of an accessory that some wouldn't want. I would actually like to get a decent red dot and give one a go, just on a different platform. I am genuinely curious about them.
Which ones have you tried, that worked out well?

The only ones I used were dot sights
like I said on target pistols. Would
never try to hunt with one. The dots
were fine at NRA pistol bullseye targets.
But not on a rabbit.
Since then, models like this has come out.
With different reticules in them.
Would like to try one of this type
on a small "night time rabbit carbine"
shooting close quarters. Especially reticle
#4.
But for squirrel hunting, think I would much prefer a scope.
I am a low budget kind of guy, but would still
like to see one and hold it in my hand before
dropping even 50 +shipping on one.
EDIT: including the trigger diagram for the new pistol
for those who may have not seen it.
