Bipod on a MROD - NEW PHOTOS

Good morning all.   Could some post some photos of a bipod on a MROD.  This is one I found on the internet.  It appears that it would be very hard to use without the bipod.  I am considering one.  Do folks actually have to take it off to normally, or is there a way to fold up forward.  Appreciate any advise.  I shoot a lot from a patio table.

The bipod that I have folds forward and the springs keep it in place.  I haven't tried it but you might be able to mount it so that it would fold to the rear, however, if you were able to do that, it could fold back towards you while shooting and allow the rifle to drop down onto whatever you are using as a rest.

I leave my bipod on all the time, even for off hand shooting.  I like the extra weight for offhand shooting.  I've had it mounted both ways (fold forward or fold rearward), prefer it folding forward.  Mine is a Blackhawk branded 'pod, tilting type, from Walmart...

You can mountt foldable bi-pods either way. To fold forward or backward.

I keep mine on all the time except for when I go into the woods hunting, I usually prefer to use shooting sticks for that but around the house or range I use it all the time as a grip or table/window placement. Mine is spring loaded and can easily fold up if the legs get in the way. instead of a swivel stud mount I just screwed in my own magpul rail on the wood so less metal would be used and no wobble plus I just honestly didn't want to dish out for a Harris when a $30 dollar alternative works fine. I highly recommend you get one even if you feel you don't want it on it literally takes seconds to take off and your accuracy will improve severely.

Yeah if you don't like lugging a shooters bag around a bi-pod is a must.  I would put one on mine but that new Boyd Blaster stock it would hurt my feelings right now to drill on that thing!

Well I am told you can get a collar with a mount on it for the MROD.  Not sure I want to drill my pepper boyd's either.

If y'all don't want to be drilling holes in a nice stock like a Boyd's just take it to your local gun shop and have em professionally install sling swivel studs. Best case scenario they'll do it for free, if not it will only be a couple of bucks.

love my cheap UTG bipods,

i have them on every gun.


i rarely take them off for any reason,
sometimes i have them set to fold forwards,sometimes backwards.

for $30 and under for the UTG cheapies you cant go wrong,i use mine all the time

I had no hesitation whatsoever with putting one on my Boyds Blaster.
 I used the stud mount for a sling swivel, but a weaver plate can also be used.





I HIGHLY recommend getting the "Pivioting" type, ("tilting", to some of you),



Both of mine are the Blackhawk brand and work just fine.
 The one available at WallyWorld is usually the 9" to 13" model# 71BPO3K
 but if you prefer, you can go on ebay and find the 6" to 9" model# 71BPO5K for about the same price.
  I prefer the shorter one for bench shooting and use a sandbag at the rear.



 I Do Not recommend any with "Traverse" (swings left to right).
 The Pivot w/traverse has waaaay to much slop in them for my liking. (even when tightened down to maximum tension).

Both of mine have the telescoping legs, which are ok and work fine... but I do want to get a "notched leg" type next.
 I think a notched leg type could be a bit easier to fine adjust it to your preferred shooting height.

Well I think I have figured out that I am going to have to install a swivel stud on my Boyd's Blaster Stock.  The air tube band rail might be too far forward.  There are 2 different ends, one has a rubber cap and one has a small ski on it.  Anyone have any experience or lessons learned about the either?

I ordered a swivel stud mount and a thu bolt swivel stud.  I am going to work on getting the courage up to drill my Blaster Stock.

Tim is selling the mrod barrel band with a rail on it. I got it for a flashlight but you could mount a bipod to it. I just orderd mine today..

I was looking at those barrel bands.  I tested a 10" prop and the barrel band felt too far forward.  The stock felt more balanced.
