Hunter Alert

Just wanted to tell you guys how the Hunter Alert is working. It works just like a normal ding donger except that it will work from further away. It also has multiple sensors. When it detects the critter, that sensor sends a signal to the main unit. It lights up and tells you which sensor went off.
It was pretty cool last night. Sensor 3 went off on the game trail near the culvert. I looked out and didn't see anything. Then Sensor 2 went off near my lights. I looked out then and saw a possum! It was the fastest moving possum I've ever seen. I must have shot at him in the past.
I've been moving the sensors around and changing their angles. The critters have somehow been getting to Sensor 2 where my lights are without tripping the others. Last night was the first night with the new arrangement and it worked a LOT better. My old one is now behind my archery hay bails in case they come from that direction.
I wear the ear phone in bed so as not to wake up the house. When I go outside to wait, it has a little plug that mutes the alarm. However, the lights still work so you know which way to look.
That last couple of nights I've faded too fast to get any shots. My biggest issue is that the critters are hearing me open the door. I'm working on new ways to get outside. The thing that I did today to help me is to spray all my hinges with Break Free CLP. They are SO quiet and SMOOTH now! I think that will give me the few seconds I need to engage and destroy.
Saw two coons at the same time last night, but they were on high alert, so I didn't get a shot. They are becoming educated so I'll need to change up my approach for awhile. I'm moving further down the hill towards the culvert on Wednesday night. I'll have to camo up or create a hide down there because it is close to the
"FORBIDDEN ZONE"
.
I've sat outside for a couple of hours without result. I was so warm in my new winter camo jacket that I almost fell asleep! Anyway, I can't stay up too late tonight, I've got to drive up to Lexington, KY. MUST AVOID going to Pyramid Air/Compasseco in Bardstown!!!

That's the best system! Try some bait/lure now. I recommend Milligan Brand Coon Creek Lure. I've been testing trapping lures, this one works AWESOME. Put it close to your house to keep them in the light long enough for you to get out of bed. I use my neighbors security light and the lure this way. I've had lots of activity. Can't blame the lure on my missing! I'm still trying to get on the scoreboard!

Possums can run, can't they? You would think it, but they are fast.
Randy, I 've done the same thing. I have oiled the hinges on all the doors. These critters can hear everything if it's not windy or rainy out. That is why I cock the gun in another room with the door closed, take the safety off, turn the gun light on, etc. and then walk out of the room. I go to the other room when I don't shut the door completely so I don't have to run the knob, and approach the window, which I usually leaved open, very quietly and all I have to do is rest on a pillow that is already on the sill and shoot. If I have to do anything else but walk in the room and shoot, there is a very good possibility they will hear it. You 're on the right track. Pretty soon you 'll be leaving windows and doors open and freezing your house like me, hehehe
Only you are a lot more South of me, and you don't get single digits or below 0 temps like I do. If I lived in TN, I 'd leave every window open and have a gun resting right next to it. But then I 'd have to deal with the mosquitos.. You just can't win

Yeah, I'm pathetic! I've even stocked some pellets downstairs so I can grab the 350 off the rack and sneak out the back way.

I kept thinking it was giving me false alarms last night. This time though I had the game camera out there to verify what was making such a racket. It turns out it was CATS! All night long cat after cat after cat! They run like crazy when they hear me coming because I zing pellets at them with the little Daisy. I don't think I've ever hit one, but they sure respect the shot.
I had 35 pictures of cats last night; no possums, skunks, or raccoons.

Thank you for the post!! Now I know what I'm going to give as my Dirty Santa Gift for Christmas. It doesn't have to be a gag gift. The game is more fun when people fight over good gifts. Lots of hunters in my family. This year should be interesting!!
I'm getting one for myself too.

I'm going to move one sensor, it never goes off so I'm going to relocate it. I'll have to check that battery maybe that is the problem. They also have a mount on them so you can angle them towards the ground. That maybe why it isn't going off either. The primary sensor is working great and the one near the culvert.
They suggest having them 3 to 4 feet off the ground and just angling them. Probably keeps from getting so much ground interference.
