Hawke Map 6A reticle info needed

Hey guys,

So how is the hawke Map 6A reticle? Im finding it difficult to find real "scope view" pics of it and info on it. Im mostly curious about what the "tube" part of the reticle is good for? Any good reviews on it?

by the "tube" i meant where the reticle gets wider (so it looks like a tube because its made with parallel lines)...hope that helps. I cant find any info on that parts purpose. it does have some aim points marked in that section of the reticle, but chairgun doesnt show them to be useful or "calabrated" to anything. How come? does the brc software have anything that chairgun doesnt?

I found my answers! 

So on hawkes site is does say that the "hollow bars" (a much better description than "tube"...) are meant for 3", 6" and 9" bracketing at 6x. The BRC software also gives the ranges on more aim points of the reticle than the program chairgun. So not only is the hollow bars good for bracketing, but the BRC can show you what ranges the aim points can be good for.

So heres a new question. Im getting a magnum springer and will hunt with it out to 50 yards if my skills allow. I will also do some plinking out to 100 yards and dont wanna have to change my zero to do it. So im stuck with a choice of which scope to get. Either a:

Hawke 2-7x32 AO hd ir with standard mildot or a
panorama EV 4-12x40 AO with map6 reticle and is twice the price of the 2-7x32

So which do you guys think i should get? Is it worth paying double for the panorama which has EV and up to 12x mag and larger bell? Or do u guys think 7x mag is adequate for 100 yard plinking and should save the money? What would y'all do from your experience?

I have had 4x, 6x, 9x and 12x scopes, the ability to zoom in pays off big time.
I know a guy who is a fixed scope lover, always buys 6x scopes, they are for his powder burners. His targets are pie plate sized targets, seeing he hunts deer and moose, so a 12x scope is not really necessary. It is not like he is doing 1200 yard shots.
With an air rifle, that is not the case, your targets are the size of a walnut or golf ball, cause that is the size of the brain in the critter your going after, the ability to zoom in, is really needed.

I dial in my scopes at 12x (except the indy), if I dial it back to 9x or 6x, it will be pin point accurate for closer targets.
MY Fx Indy has a 6-24x scope on it, when I get the chance to do some long range shooting, it will pay off.

Ok so your saying the ability to zoom in more is essential for optimum accuracy on small targets, from your experiences. Advice i am surely gonna take.

So are there any quality differences between the different product lines hawke has? Specifically between the sport hd ir and panorama ev lines? Or is the only reason the panorama is worth spending double on because it had much more zoom? So if i found a sport hd ir with 3-9x or 4-12x mag. you would advise me to get that instead of spend $100 more on the panorama line?

The HDir seems like it would handle the recoil.  the 3-9x40 and 4-12x50 have mildots available.
They say all caliber rated, if tight on money, then I would have no problem with one of these.

I only have the 2-7X32 HD to compare to my Panorama's but to my eyes they were worth the price.
