Kalibr Cricket in .25

Just received my Cricket from Top Gun in Arizona. I had doubts about a small
bullpup type gun but no more. This little thing really performs well with power
over 50 ftlbs and accuracy as good as any. It did have a vague trigger but
after learning how to adjust it now it is very good indeed. The biggest problem
is the instruction manual has no instructions at all. They don't even tell you
what to charge the rifle to which is a hefty 300 bar (4350 psi). The gun supposed
to get over 60 shots because it is regulated to run at 120 bar. If you don't
charge it to full power all that happens is you get fewer shots. I shot the 25.4
gr. JSB at full power and got 980 fps when I ran the gun down to 120 bar on
the built in guage it still shot in the 970 range, not bad at all. One problem I
ran into was loading the magazines you need three hands. They have a lever
you hold back while inserting the mag. Well you can't hold the gun. operate the
lever and load the mag. I came up with a solution by filling a detent in the side
plate where the lever is so I could lock it back. This way you can hold the gun
with one hand lock back the lever then insert the mag and release the lever.
I took it out squirrel hunting and was pleasantly surprised at how well it
handled and dispatched 5 squirrels with my first 5 shots. They ranged from
15 yrds to 60 yrds and the point of aim was the same dead on. It isn't a
really quiet gun but it isn't overly loud either. It has a different sound more
like a pop than a bang. You have to get use to the side lever cocking as it
is at the rear of the gun. When shouldered it is a little inconvienent to operate
but after a while you get use to it with not much fuss. This is a little lightweight
gun with big gun performance I hope it is reliable but only time will tell. I also
worry about parts but am assured they will be available.
