When I started this tonight I had some daylight left and thought I would be able to get it over the chrony. However after cleaning, taking my time as this was my virgin voyage in taking the rifle apart and a small fitting problem.
my problem i ran into was this.
I'm assuming from an engineering standpoint the front delrin guide should go in and replace the factory steel one. It wouldn't fit though and I knew i didnt want it to get stuck all the way in the botttom. So I got out the sand paper (several times) and when i thought I had it, stuck..... I got it out though minus a few words and a struggling sweat. so i left it out for now and re-installed the factory piece.
The sun had set so the chrono was not an option. Hopefully tomorrow I'll see what it is doing. I had to cycle it though, it was killing me. If the power/group consistency is there tomorrow I will be one happy camper. The shot cycle is pretty dang sweet (impressed). I had about 700 shots through the factory parts and it was acquiring a distinct spring noise, not a goose honk mind you but something was there lol. I also fitted the vortek seal adapter and oring until it was just a tad smoother than the original.
here's the shot string before with the factory parts.
1. 689.7
2. 678.3
3. 690.6
4. 694.6
5. 695.8
6. 679.9
7. 697.7
8. 694.3
9. 697.2
10. 695.0
to be continued.... Have a great weekend!

Nice going there, Jamie!
Can't wait to see how it does for you soon when you get some daylight.
You can always add some LED puck lights on your Chrony if you want to use it at night. It works well for me and several others here.

Just a quick comment ...
Using the factory STEEL top hat instead of the supplied plastic will change weight of the piston assembly and most likely power will be different.
In reading seems that more weight will increase power slightly, but also recoil a bit more.
Actual results would be interesting to see you actually document them. Shot with the factory weighted hat and without using the supplied one.
Anywho ... best of luck in your shakedown trials over the weekend !!!

Thanks Niko I'll check into the puck lights !
Scott thats what I was thinking would be the outcome between the 2 as well. I'm going to spin the delrin top hat down on the drill press and compare next take down.
Thanks for the replies fellas!
with the metal top hat heres the chrono results
cp 14.3 (tin) JSB 14.35
1. 698.6 696.0
2. 703.7 677.7
3. 686.5 688.8
4. 699.3 681.5
5. 694.2 678.9
6. 699.3 674.7
7. 680.6 (L) 683.8
8. 704.9 682.3
9. 695.2 678.9
10. 699.8 681.3
(L= looser fit)
The cp domed fit a bit tighter than the jsb's. Thats all I have for now . I shot a few groups at 25 yards but nothing to write home about at this point. My daughters 4th birthday party is today so if the weather holds out I'll try for some grouping tests.

So basically same ES for both pellets but the CP's gained some fps! How was the recoil in terms of harsher or same or less? BTW- Not bad numbers what so ever and I would expect those to tighten up with break in!

Thanks Mike, I would say the recoil is close to same, definitely not any more and the shot cycle does feel quicker to me than stock.

Your results are uncannily similar to mine! Congrats! I like the quicker shot cycle - it feels much more crisp to shoot and psychologically, that's a good thing for me...
