My CO2 Project

In June 2011 I meet a guy that needed a part machined. No one was willing to help him. I answered his post on a forum that we are a member of. His name is Randal (aka Johnny Quest). We meet and discussed his part and shooting airguns. I told him how I used to hunt all time with my Powermaster 760 when I was a kid. We had a camp house on Toledo Bend and the National Forest was just across the street. If I wasn’t fishing I was in the forest hunting with my airgun. Since meeting JQ I have acquired no less than 8 new airguns. Some I have modified and some are in line to be modified.
Now here is my problem, I like to build stuff. It doesn’t matter what I just like to build things and see it do whatever it’s supposed to do. I work at a machine shop and have excess to whatever I need. So after seeing JQ build his Stainless Rat Killer I thought that I would build my own from scratch. With the exception of a few purchased items.
Items purchased so far.
Lothar Walther barrel .25 cal.
12oz CO2 bottle
Marauder hammer spring
22xx valve spring
Assortment of o-rings
Next purchase item
Marauder trigger assembly
Items built so far.
Valve assembly

It looks like you have a pretty fair start on it. I look forward to following your progress!

Machined on the breech today. It still needs some work done on it but I have to wait until I get my trigger assembly. Maybe next week I'll get to order it.

Just ordered the trigger. Delivery in 10-12 working days. I may have a few more parts made this afternoon. I'll post them when they're done.

It's looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you. I'm curious as to how you mounted the shroud, is the barrel free floated or do you have a bushing further forward?

Yes the barrel has a bushing at the end of it. I just got it finished along with the end caps. The color scheme my son wants is black and gold. I wanted black and red. I plan on anodizing the tubes black, the breech red and everything else made out of brass.

Brass, eh? I hadn't caught that. I'd noticed a difference in tone between the shroud and the breech, but hadn't caught that it's actually yellow tinged. That will look sharp!

What you see at the breech is where I used scotch-brite on the shroud after I machined the end square. I have a close up of it. Made the transfer tube today. I probably want be able to make anything else until me trigger comes in next week.

Ricky. I know your work and I know this project you are on will be a great gun. I love my stainless rat killer. It was a build from the heart. I know yours will be the same. Look forward to seeing the finished gun. Contact josh Austin if you want some killer wood for it. You've seen my stock. Nothing like it in the world. I'll be watching this build.

What are the chances that you would be willing to make a few more of your Co2 valve blocks?

No plans to mass produce. This is just a one off more than likely.

It sure looks to me like that trigger blade is in backwards. Is that a factory Marauder trigger group?
