The CZ Slavia 631, made by Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod (ČZUB) of the Czech Republic. A little slow, but built like a tank and accurate.

Maybe "Czech and Russian" should really be "Eastern European" so as not to forget Romania's Pioner 2. Oh, wait - it is forgetable. I've seen it described as a "tomato stake" gun, since that's all it's good for. How about "Czech, Russian, and tomato stake"?

What's the velocity on that thing? Who cares if it's slow! That thing looks like a real smoothie to shoot and in my hands (where she belongs

Too bad they stopped importing the 630/631 rifles.
I have a 631, and almost got a shortened 631, but they stopped being imported before I could get the shortie.
It is a VERY nice low powered plinker/casual target rifle. But the non-standard rear sight/scope rail makes it more difficult to mount optics on.

It's shooting at about 605 FPS with a hardware store 1% moly EP grease. It was up around 625 with a thinner silicone grease, but with lots of twang. Factory rating is 575 FPS. No internal mods except for deburring and polishing. From a rest it makes pencil-diameter groups at 10m. It's my favorite, as you might guess from my online name.

Which pellet is it doing that 605fps with?

That's with the 8.2 grain RWS Meisterkugeln's. Outdoors it likes RWS Superdomes. I bought it on a lark from Cabela's in 2002 - $80.00 USD on closeout. It is a shame that they are no longer imported, but I suppose burners bring more profit with the same overhead costs.

The exterior mods that you see sprouted over several years. The two weak points in the design are the plastic trigger guard and the plastic barrel latch knob - both broke. CZ-USA told me parts were available, but it would take 6-9 months to get them from the Czech Republic. I said phooey to that and made my own from aluminum.

I always wondered what CZ (Česká zbrojovka) meant, hoping for something exotic like "death to the imperialists" or the like. One day I ran into a Czech speaker, and all it means is "Czech Arms." Oh well.

Nice to know that little smoothie shoots a little over 6.5fpe. That's basically around the power of an R7/HW30 so I'm not surprised if they have great accuracy.
