If I remember, mine was shooting around 960 with 14.3 grain pellets.

They won't challenge your PCP that's for sure.

They can do 33 fpe when tuned for it. Theyr'e just so hit or miss with quality, parts support still stinks, and they NEED a a full tune out of the box to be honest.

Paul68, do you think that circumventing the spring and chamber machining by going the NP conversion would increase the odds of getting a better out of the box product. PA said they drop the old lube and fix minor machining issues and ship terrible examples back to Hatsan. I attempted to start a thread on this note but with no luck. A tune out the box is not an option for me right now due to my lack of compression vise and experience. My options for a new shooter are RWS 48 and Hatsan 125 camo NP conversion. For some reason all I hear about the Hatsan I still want one, am I crazy?

Naa, your'e not crazy. The power of the Hatsans is very tempting.

Far as going for the spring conversion from PA given your current inability to manage an in depth tune, absolutely! With PA having to essentially clean up and inspect the rifle in order to install the Gas Spring, it'll take a lot of the QC issue out of the equation.

If you go with the gas spring conversion from PA expect the gun to lose a little power. Not much, around 25 FPS less than a spring version, but it'll be a lot smoother, quieter, and more reliable.

The RWS 48 is the better gun in terms of overall comparison. Its extremely accurate, better made, better finish, a little lighter, and can produce 21+ FPE, ecspecially after a tune. It might be a bit twangy in stock form, but they are still nice shooters once broken in and will take out any varmint the Hatsan will.

If I were looking for a gun I could just buy and shoot with good results and few hassles, I'd get the 48. If I wanted all out power and were willing to do a full tune, I'd get the Hatsan.

Don't forget that HATSAN is coming out with their new VORTEX User-Adjustable Gas Ram. There is a GTA thread with detailed PICS and information. From what I have seen so far, there is no loss of velocity with the Vortex, compared to the spring. There is a chart in the thread below, along with other info.

As I understand it, Hatsan apparently is eliminating SPRINGS in  almost every break-barrel & under-lever, in favor of the VORTEX gas ram units.
