The assist fits very tight, and really can't be put on "wrong". I think it is causing some sort of turbulence or something like that. Another reviewer on a different site had the same thing to say about the assist affecting accuracy, and shooting much lower with it on.

Same thing happened with my Ruger MK 1, Shoots horrible with the cocking assist on, satisfactory with it off.  Checked for pellets striking the assist proved negitive.   Looking forward to more reviews on the Crosman!

There is really nothing to compare it to but is just a bit more quite than my trail which is pretty quite in my opinion.

Got mine in a day before i had to go offshore for three weeks. I cleaned the barrel and ran around 100 miesterkuglin 7 gr. through it. I was not impressed by the accuracy but did not shoot it with out the assist because it is not set up like the RWS LP8. What I mean by this is that it doesn't have a lot of room to grab ahold to it without grabbing the fiberoptic sight. I will have to give it another try when I get back in. As far as everything else I was pleased. It is a solid gun with sturdy construction. I haven't chronied it yet but it feels like it has plenty of power. The grips were a bit wide and rough for my liking but are adequate. For the price I think it is a neat gun and I would recommend picking one up if you find it. I will post more when I get in and put a tin through it.

I have one of these and have only had a chance to put a few rounds through it (maybe 20).  For context this is my first air gun, but I'm highly experienced with firearms.

My initial impressions - it's huge, but not very heavy.  After the first 5-6 rounds (in which I now know it was burning off oil - shame I found out about that after the fact) the accuracy settled in and the holes were all touching with three round groups from... not far, probably 5 yards.  But good enough to start zeroing.  The windage was way off - I was able to get it adjusted but it's pretty far towards the end of its adjustment range.  There isn't enough elevation to adjust point of impact to my point of aim.  With the screw adjusted all the way it hits maybe a half inch low.   I don't want to fiddle with the sights too much until it has more rounds through it but I'll figure something out.

The trigger is awful.  Very long pull, very mushy.  If anybody knows if it's possible to jam an aftermarket trigger in there I'd be interested, otherwise I guess I'll get some more rounds through it and then start seeing if the adjustment screw helps at all.

It's not very loud but again, I don't have a lot of context.

What else... oh - I was shooting with the assist on.  I'll try it both ways next time out and see if it changes anything.

Just to follow up on that, I took the assist off and tried a few rounds and the point of impact jumped up about six inches.  This still at 4-5 yards.  I shudder to think how many MOA that is.  The good news is that I was able to zero it, and the groups are still good.

Next time I'll see if that trigger adjustment helps at all.

Maybe Crosman has a "lawyer spring" installed in it? I'm thinking it could be set up just like the Marauders. If so, it's an easy fix.

I don't have one but my brother got his Fri. 4-19.  Shot his from a bench, forearms rested and put the first 4 shots into a 2 inch target at 12 yds.  Shot about 20 shots mostly at a soda can just to get a feel for the trigger.  Today (sunday) we shot for a couple of hours.  He shot his nitro piston and I shot my new (3 week old) Hatsan supercharger 25.  The trigger on the Crosman needs work, very heavy but it started to feel better as the shooting went on.  Crosman is a lot easier to cock and is quieter than the Supercharger.  We did not chrony the pistols but the Supercharger hit the targets a lot harder.  The Crosman was shot with the cocking aid on, never thought about taking it off.  For as much as I shot the Crosman I really liked it.  Shooting at 18 yds. I was hitting just about everything I aimed at from 1 1/2 inch bottle lids to soda cans.  I'm rather new to air pistols and my brother is even newer.  We  got the pistols above and each got a 2240 and our wives got the Crosman 357's.

What did you find?  Any chance fiddling with the springs will help?

I tried the screw and it took out a little slack but nothing to write home about.  I was thinking I'd get some more rounds through it and then open it up and then see what the options are.

Yo Guys:
Recieved mine today at work,and had a chance to run about a 100 rounds through it. First impressions, it is heavy and darn big for a pistol. Cocking even with the assist is hard, quality is better than expected.

First thing I did was clean the barrel, squared up the rear sight, lubed all over, worked the cocking action 30-40 times while cocked.
I remembered how many shots 4-500 rounds I had to run through my NPSS rifle a couple of years ago before it came in.

Two engineering problems I encountered, with the assist on, the gun shoots 2 inches lower (but groups ok) than with the assist off (which groups ok also). The next design problem is the rear sight adjuster is almost all the way out and the adjustment scew is holding on by about 1-2 threads and loose in the block.

The trigger is smoth but takes about 6#s to break. Power is way off  it feels like about 450-500 ft/sec. I know from experience that the gun will loosen up with time, and that some air gun tech will figure out how to lighten the trigger. I woud rate the gun a C+ , but expected more from crossman.

I feel the main problem is production and assembly and a lack of QC. For now I will stick with my P17 which is plagued with the same problems and made in the same country. If you want a good P17, your chances are about 33% of getting a good one the first time.

My feeling is that I would pay a little bit more for an airgun made in this country and at least checked out before is was shipped out. I sometimes wonder how much money the manufactures really save with shipping, returns, bad reputations, shipping/production delays and consumers not buying.

2nd day followup report.

Just had to take the thing apart and look at it from the inside. Well the inside looks really good, Welds and components are much better than I expected. Lubed everything up with lithium and pelgun oil, loosened the barrel swivel screw one notch. The reason the trigger is so heavy is that the safety spring is tied to the trigger.

After working on it and re assembling ran about another 50 are so rounds through it, it is begining to loosen up a little bit and is easier to cock., and the trigger is getting lighter. I havn't touched the trigger adjustment yet.

Surprised at the accuracy at this point, off hand, using both hands, trigger pull is still long and heavy but smooth, 1.5" groups at 10 meters, recoil is not light but manageble. The more I shoot the better the accuracy. This might just turn into a real good accurate trail gun. Power is also increasing, estimate about 500 fps with 7.5 grain waddcutters. Will keep you posted.

So, how did you get the cap off the back of the compression tube assenbly? (under the rear sight)
I have removed the screw but the cap doesnt want to move.

U need a spring compresser I don't recommend this dude I'm pretty serious on this one unless you have three hands and take pictures of that single stage trigger taking it apart is the easy bit but putting that square peg that holds that rear stock screws back in with those little springs and flat head screw drivers it was a complete nightmare if you attempt i hope this helped I don't have a pic of my spring compresser but its a long 24" adjustable clamp from home depot i use it for my regular trail.

anyway reason being you have to take that part that I was talking about out so you can get the piston out and remember which way that part is facing with the spring on it it only fits one way but it's kind of weird to think about where the spring is in the pin that goes through it it's really difficult and again I don't recommend it

Thanks.  Being the newb that I am I really was not sure how far I wanted to get into it.  I think I have a lot of learning about triggers before I atempt this.
I have the spring compressor and have done a deburr/lube/seal on my Venom but dont feel confident to do the pistol.
How did the internals look on yours?  What I can see on mine looks good but I dont know if I would know good from bad.
Anyway...thanks for the advice.
