Latest mod added UTG bi-pod.

Yes, have it centered at 50 yards with JSB 18.1 pellets 850fps. Checking the hunting gate to see its results.

I'm actually still playing with the power setting have adjusted back up to three turns of pre-load which gives me around 900fps with the JSB 18.1 pellets. Largest animal I've taken with it has been two skunks and a C-Rat. The first skunk was a head shot at 50 yards the second was 30 yard chest shot. Both went down with little to no twitching. This gun has a lot of power range to it.

I am getting 890 fps with my Halestorm in .22 which is the same rifle as the AT44 except in the wood stock (AT44W). Deadly Accurate.

The Turks did a good job coming up with these nice rifles  . Why three holes in the the valve & four in the hammer? I know porting the valve helps it breathe better, but I don't get why the hammer. Can you shed some light?

Idea behind the holes in the hammer is to decrease resistance by allowing the air to flow through the hammer. As designed, you have pretty restricted air flow inside the tube, some can pass around the hammer and some can displace through the little hole they have in the tube. In my case the hole is blocked as I have replaced the hammer stop screw with a piece of rubber tubing which blocks the air hole. I could drill a hole in the rubber tubing but decided to do the hammer mod instead. There is also the added benefit of decreasing the hammer weight as well which should increase hammer speed slightly.

How much these mods really help is questionable, I just like to tinker

Lightening the hammer will reduce the momentum and may require an increase in spring preload to maintain the same FPE level....

Originally wanted the Pneuma but didn't have the pump so the cost savings of the Discovery/pump package won out. Later got the Pheuma refurbished.

Pro's for the Discovery:

1) Cheapest way to get into PCP if you are starting from nothing.
2) Crosman parts department is the best I've seen. You can order every part for this gun so lends itself to learning and tinkering.
3) With some TLC the Discovery can be a real tack driver.  I have used it to shoot aspirins at 50 yards.
4) Lots of aftermarket options and advice.
5) Easy to convert between .177 and .22
The not so nice:
1) Discovery can be like an old car that you just love to drive but hate having to work on all the time.
2) POI can be an issue with these guns.
3) Bolt doesn't stay locked down so can pop open when firing. Mods can be done here to prevent this.
4) Shot count is pretty low especially if you ramp up power.
5) Trigger is terrible but can be easily modded
6) Shot stringing vertically can be an issue especially when adding extra barrel band to end of gun.

Pro's for the Pneuma:
1) Lots of power
2) Lots of standard features adjustable trigger, adjustable butt plate, Weaver rail, threaded barrel, spare tank option.
3) Comes stock with degassing tool
4) No metal barrel bands that damages your gun. Also allows barrel to float but  with support.
5) Hammer preload can be adjusted right out the box. No need to add parts to do this.
6) The side lever bolt is absolutely great  beats the Disco option hands down.
7) Up to 200bar right out of the box though best shooting for me with my settings is 180-190bar.

Cons:
1) Puppy is load!
2) Heavy
3) Not a lot of aftermarket parts. However Umerax USA has done a good job on supplying parts for this gun. Had to rebuild my valve due to oops on my part. Everything was in stock at reasonable prices with flat $6 shipping (Crosman only charges $4 so they win that one)
4) Barrel is shorter than the Discovery
5) Can be an air hog if you adjust the power up. However, valve can be modded to help counter this.
6) Doesn't have the quick release fitting of the Disco so filling can be a pain.

All in all I prefer the Pneuma in .22 over the Disco. Seriously thinking about converting the Disco to .177, between the Pneuma and my Titan I have the .22 needs covered. Don't have a .177 PCP and the Disco is easy to convert.

Not sure yet, the Hatsan version with choked barrel will likely match it but this one?? There is a lot more power to this gun and I never planned anything but hunting with it so have concentrated on power ratio rather than pure accuracy. It easily does paint balls at 50 yards with 30fpe which is more than enough for what I intend on using this it for.
