... from Crosman's Custom Shop in .22 caliber. I would like the gun for an inexpensive backpacker. I like the idea of having a portable air source in the CO2 canisters. What are my advantages and disadvantages for getting a 18 inch barrel as opposed to a 14.6 inch barrel? How much power am I losing if I go with the shorter barrel?

You will loose about 8-10 fps per inch. Think about also ordering the 2289 pin and spring for holding the stock on. That way, you can easily take the stock off for the backpack. Maybe room for an 18" barrel that way? Regards, Tom

if you hook it up to a hipac then its all dandy. The longer the better with compressed air. Thats why its 24" in the discovery rifle. Running straight from CO2 cartridges shouldn't use more than 14" barrel.

i had started off with a 2400kt in 22cal with 24in barrel, ended up getting a 17in barrel and mixing in various discovery parts to have a customer 2400kt pcp carbine built for me by lloyd sikes that makes 42fpe

They are a lot like 2240s, in that everyone should have at least one!
