Tim Einck HW Setback Triggers

I have Tim's setback triggers on all three of my HW rifles now.   I have large hands but short fingers so I appreciate the way these work.  On this last order Tim asked me if I wanted to try an adjustable first stage setback trigger.  It's exactly what he says--the first stage hump on the trigger is adjustable--much like an AA trigger.   I gave it a try.

I installed the trigger over the weekend on my HW95 and then spent a couple of hours messing around with it.  At first I wasn't sure but now I'm sold and wish my other two were the same type.  It feels like by giving you the ability to increase the leverage on the first stage you can allow the first stage to move the lower sear further without any creep or much effort.  It then feels like a more definite boundary between the first and second stages and second stage can still have a very light release if that's how you want it.

I removed the trigger unit from the gun, something I would recommend, while doing most of the tweaking.  With the little window in the bottom left you can see exactly how much sear engagement you have and how much movement is coming from the first and then second stages.  You will have to have it in the rifle though, to feel the actual let-off pressure.  There is definitely force being applied indirectly by the mainspring that needs to be overcome when actually pulling the trigger for real.

I'm not a trigger guy so take all of this with a grain of salt but after spending hours adjusting all of my Rekord triggers I like this one the best.  They're all great and I have no complaints but this one just feels a little better to me.

I had to shorten Tim's pressure screw a bit--the one he supplied was about 1/16" too long for the setup I ended up with but I was able to do that easily on a wood lathe (some day I'll get a metal lathe!).

Tim asked if I wanted to try one and told me he'd send me a regular setback if I didn't like this one.  And I like fiddling around with this stuff so it was a no-lose opportunity.

This is something I know I will add.
I recently bought a HW55S of 1979 vintage.
Would these work on that rifle as well as my new HW35E?

They're made for the Rekord trigger so any HW that uses that trigger should be fine.  I don't know which triggers are on the rifles you have but I imagine you do.

Not only do the triggers make the rifles more unique but the setback feature really helps a lot of us folks that don't have long fingers.   No more stretching to reach the trigger properly.

That's a fact... I put a 10.6mm setback on my 50s= Love it .

I didn't even think of that I have huge hands. Guess I'll have to get a custom stock with a pistol grip
