Which Crossman gun platform for quiet shooting
«

I would like a quiet gun for backyard shooting, i cant afford a maurader. Im not overly concerned about power, 7-12 foot pounds is plenty. I was thinking maybee a 1377 with 24 inch barrel? Any ideas or suggestions on what would work the best?
Thanks
Jason

The 1377 is not going to be quiet. I have a Titan GP .22 that is pretty darn quiet, much quieter than my 1377. And it was under $130 new. Any of the gas piston powered crosmans/benji's are pretty quiet.

I would think with a 24 inch barrel it would be, as long as using few pumps. I have nothing against sprinters but was leaning toward trying to get a quiet pumper for ease of shooting and variable power. If I go with a springer I would want a lower powered one.

A TKO LDC on any length barrel would make a 1377 "neighbor friendly". My 2240 used to "bark" and now it just "snorts" a little.

My 1377 when I had a 24" barrel on it, was my loudest air rifle. This was at 5 pumps or more. Outside of pressurizing for storage, never tried less than five. You will want a tko on it to keep it quiet. It will get fairly long (broomstick) though.

+1 on Nitro piston for a springer but for CO2/HPA +1 on the TKO. I will never own another springer.

Yeah, i was going to suggest the low power titan or any of the nitro piston guns. I see crosman made an NP pistol, but we havnt heard anything about it. I had a few titans, and after a little tlc, they are great little guns. I think they made 16-18fpe in .22 though. A little high on power for what you want. If you went with a 1377 or 1322, youd need a longer barrel so you could put on a LDC, and youd find out that you want to replace the breech and end up losing your sights so youd need a scope or dot sight, then youd need a barrel band. And since houve gone that far, youd want a flat top valve and piston, the need to replace the front pump hinge pin, lol...then why stop there, cant have a sweet pistol with plastic furniture right?. Those mods add up. You'll be a few hundred into that gun before you know it, lol! My vote is for a lower powered breakbarrel NP gun. Keep it simple. Refurbed titans can be had for right around $110 shipped. I own PCP guns, and while they are fun, if your just looking to plink, a 30FPE mrod is not the tool for the job.
