Industry Brand AR2078A UPDATE
«

Got my first chance to shoot my brand new AR2078A yesterday and just wanted to say what a solid shooter it is. I used some Chinese pellets and was very impressed with the accuracy of them and the rifle...out of a total of about 60 pellets I didn't have any fliers at all. I'm still in the process of getting it sighted in correctly so I didn't post any photos but at the same time I am very impressed with everything and also how stable and solid it feels. I also have some H@N Match pellets but haven't tried them yet.
Supposed to be colder here for the next few days so it will be longer than I want til I get a chance to shoot again but will hopefully have some target photos to post.

William,
Are you shooting with a scope or with the diopter sights?
When you get serious, you will need a BUNCH of different wadcutters to see which one shoots the best. However, you will reach "good enough" accuracy at a certain point. No need to go nuts testing pellets. That is unless you plan to shoot in local and national competitions.
I have 2 levels of "good enough."
Vogel Sport is my "good enough" pellet for my match guns at 10m. I determined that for ME, spending the extra $$$ on full on match grade pellets is not worth the extra cost. I rather drop down one level and shoot MORE for the same $$$.
Daisy and Crosman wadcutters are "good enough" for my plinkers and casual target guns at 10m. And they are surprisingly accurate.
When you find the pellet or pellets that YOUR gun likes, get a LOT of pellets. Pellet behavior can change between manufacturing lots. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. So whenever I buy pellets I get at least 1 sleeve (10 tins). Besides it is the pits to run out of pellets on Sunday, when the stores are closed.
Same with CO2, buy the cartridges in bulk, so you save $$, and have plenty on hand, so you don't run out and have to stop shooting.

I get the RWS Diabolo (wadcutter) pellets at Wally World ,500 for $5.06 you can't beat that for a quality pellet.

The targets I shot were worthy of some photos for the first time the gun was shot...kind of just showing off the gun and what it can do even without being sighted in properly. I will say all the groups were well within an inch or less. That's probably not saying much but for the first time it wasn't to bad for not being sighted in and using Chinese pellets with no fliers at all. I'm using the Diopter sights and so far they work very well...very impressed and they have a very cool look to them.
I'm game for not having to spend a ton of money on trying different pellet. I know the H@N pellets I got were a bit expensive but the guy that reviewed the gun used them and got excellent results and he posted photos so I picked them up just to be sure. So far the Chinese pellets are impressive and better than I was expecting. It is good to know the gun will shoot well with less expensive ones.
I will post some photos next time I shoot hopefully very soon. Would be cool to compete with others here or show off our best targets and see who can out do who.

William,
If with the rifle with a scope off a good rest, you can keep a 5-shot group inside 1/4 inch center-to-center at 10m, then that pellet is "good enough" for casual target use.
Drop down to the target shooting gate.
Shoot the standard GTA 10 yard offhand match.
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?board=27.0
Download and shoot the open sight target. That target is designed for use with aperture sights.
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=21058.0;attach=29701
Next you need to practice shooting in the standing position.
You also need to select the proper size front aperture insert. BTW did your rifle come with different size inserts?

Hi AC,
Thanks AC...it came with open sights and Diopter sights...no front post inserts if that's what you're talking about. I'll have to work up to the standing positions which sound like fun...more difficult from using a bench rest which is what I used but just to check the gun out and see how accurate it is. Will be doing that for a bit til I get it sighted in correctly.
The shooting contest links sound really cool and will be getting involved in that for sure. The weather here is still to cold to shoot in today and the next few days looks about the same but am keeping a close eye out for the next warmest day to shoot in...shouldn't be much longer. Thanks!

William,
You can shoot co2 in the low/mid 50s, I did.
You are not shooting for power, just paper at 10m.
It is your trigger finger that won't like the cold, and is my limiting factor. When my finger is numb or too cold to control the trigger, I stop shooting and pack up.
For the front sight, isn't it an aperture sight inside the tube?
For target shooting, you want to use the aperture inserts, not a post.
Your rifle "should" have come with a set of aperture inserts, of different size apertures, that you can swap with the insert in the front sight assembly. If not you need to determine what other insert will fit.
For target shooting there are different ideas about what size aperture insert to use. And one size does NOT fit all shooters. The insert is meant to be changed, so you should change them when needed. I will change inserts, depending on how much my wobble is, on a particular day.
Shooting in the standing position is difficult, but it is not that bad. You just have to use the appropriate techniques.
