Why my Discovery shoots better than my Beeman

So, I got started in air guns a very short time ago, less than 2 months now. I've been shooting powder since I was little, and just re-discovered air powered rifles. I've been exceptionally pleased with how much fun these things are, and surprised by how thought consuming these things are...
Anyway, I was shooting my Beeman Grizzly X2 (aka RS2) in .22 form for the better part of 6 weeks. It was, and I was, getting better all the time. I've been learning that there was for sure a learning curve on a springer. Now, that, for sure, adds to the inaccuracy, but overall I was seeing there there was still too many 'flyers' with the Beeman. I put this down to dieseling, or not having enough pellets through it, or, whatever. But then I found something today... What I have found between the two guns is that out of the box the Discovery was a tack driver. I just figured it was the lack of recoil, and that, for sure, was a big part. As I've learned the hold for the Beeman I've gotten much better. But now I think it's a little more than that.
As I was cleaning a squirrel I got with my new .22 Discovery today, I was able to recover the pellet. It's a Benjamin Dome (from their combo box), and it was an instant kill on the squirrel. It hit the spine, and spun the squirrel around as it fell out of the tree without so much as a twitch.
Here is the pellet shot from the Discovery and you will see the head and skirts have deep grooves from the guns rifling. This pellet was a nice tight fit and the rifling did a wonderful job with it, it appears. I have recovered several pellets from Beeman kills, and never saw this level of pellet/bore interaction. So what do you guys think, this possible or am I just dreaming up stuff here?

Just a thought, have you tried larger head sizes in your beeman, or a different brand of pellets?
