MM regular tuned XS-B26-2 vs. MM de-tuned XS28M

with a MM 28M getting MM's extra screw mod and de-tuned to about the same fps as a MM B26 .......
would either be easier to shoot accurately than the other ?
would either be inherently more accurate than the other ?
with someone new to springers , would those difference be noticeable to most new shooters ? ...  or be mostly trivial and go either way depending on the particular shooter ?

i like the looks of the B26-2 stock better than the one on the 28 , but ultimately accuracy is more important than looks . the B26 also has a version of the REKORD trigger . FWIU it's a pretty nice trigger , but not quite the equal of a true REKORD trigger . and the T05 trigger copy on the 28M with the extra screw mod is said to be very nice too .

BUT , what i really really like about the 28M is just replacing a spring ($15) later gives me a faster/flatter shooting gun down the road .... and for just $43 i can try a different cal. barrel ... if i ever get the urge .

The 28 is bigger, heavier, and not as balanced as the 26. Additionally, the longer stroke and heavier piston assembly will produce more recoil and movement than the 26, even when detuned. You'll get very good accuracy out of a MM detuned 28, but it will remain harder to shoot than the lighter, better balanced, and more docile 26.

The triggers on both guns are very good after Mike mods them.

As a side note, the 28 is built with power as its objective. BY detuning it, you are trying to put the rifle into a role it was not really designed for. Not to say it isn't meant to be accurate, only that it's size and design is built with producing power in mind rather than all out accuracy. In effect, you'd be taking away from the area where the gun performs the best.

IMO, it is better to stick to the rule of choosing a rifle according to what you need and expect from it.

If it is accuracy and mid range power you want, get the 26.

If it is power and hunting level accuracy you want, get the 28.

Also, if a 28 is tuned well and you learn to master its personality, the accuracy will be there even in full power trim.

Omly once in awhile, some have problems but could be due to home tunes...
