My new RS2, but what kind of trigger is this...?

I apologize if this is answered elsewhere in the forum; I tried the search engine but couldn't find an answer out there. 

I have recently bought an RS2 and really like this gun.  I immediately wanted to learn more about tuning it, and downloaded the RS2 guide written by RSE.  However, I immediately became confused because the trigger in that guide shows two trigger stage adjustments, and all I can see on mine is the trigger spring adjustment behind the trigger and a single (very small) screw in front of the blade. 

I've found other posts out there talking about this, but nothing definitive on how to adjust this trigger.  I am assuming that this is still a two stage trigger with only the second stage being adjustable, but that's pure speculation on my part.  Can anyone confirm or deny this speculation?  And is the guide out there accurate for all other parts of the trigger mechanism, or is there a new guide for this new trigger?

That "sounds" like the older RS1 trigger, not the RS2. RS2 has two adjustment screws. What's the model number on the rifle? If you can't find it, look on the box where the bar code is, or near the specs. Should be some numbers in there like 1050-1051- etc.

OK, so the box does say Model 1073, and above the UPC "Item #1073".  The only number on the gun is 120915688, which I assume is the Serial Number, and it says "Sportsman RS2 Series" on top.  Here are some pictures of the trigger:

That's a "Grizzly". The factory made a change to the trigger on the 1073's awhile back, but I really dont know what that change was.

My own rifle is a 1051 and "supposed" to have the RS1 trigger, but has the RS2 trigger instead. IN other words, could be a factory goof or switch.

At any rate, I think you can only adjust travel on that trigger. To lighten the break you'd probably have to swap the spring.

I'm no expert on these so couild be wrong. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help.

Little more clarification cause my brain farted and a little research was in order.

The RS1 trigger is a direct sear unit and is not adjustable.

The standard RS2 trigger should be two stage adjustable.

There is a "mystery" trigger that shipped with 1073's when the factory made a change.


My opinion is you have the "mystery" trigger. The screw in the trigger should adjust travel. The screw behind the trigger adjusts pull weight.

So, is this a direct drop in trigger, or is the mechanism different too?  In other words, is there a CharlieDaTuna type of upgrade here (I don't see it listed on his site)?

No, it's a two stage trigger, it's just only adjustable for the travel and overall weight and not the breaking weight.
