Hello Fella's,
Had a chance to do a little rabbit hunting this morning.
I was lucky enough to bag two, I shot one at 28 yards & left him until I made my way back around to the truck but
he was gone when I got back. That won't happen again. One was 32 yards & the other was 44 yards.
both were head shots.
A good morning.
It was even a better morning when I got home my TX200HC .22 showed up.
I am very excited I need to get out & put some lead through it to season that barrel. I hope to take it out in the morning.

Very nice shooting with the NP.  And a TX200 showed up at your door.  That is a great day! 

I had that happen to me about 25yrs ago.  I had shot a cottontail with my .22LR rimmie about 30yds out.  I did not pick it up right away.  I stayed hidden behind a tree and some bushes because I had spotted 3 rabbits in total and did not want to give my position away or scare them more than the shot had.  While I was scanning the area to find another, I see a cat come out of the woods and walking down the trail with my rabbit in its mouth!  When I gave chase it just ran into some thick brush and I lost it.  Where there are rabbits there are always predators, so I learned my lesson.  I never leave any small-game on the ground now for more than a minute.  I would guess a hawk or a cat probably got your rabbit.  Cats and hawks are very quiet.  Unless you are looking in that direction, you will never hear them or catch them in the act. 

Oh, I have also had 2 neighborhood cats and the neighbor's dog steal squirrels from me, seconds after the squirrels dropped and did their death dance.  So I 've been a victim a few times and I know how you feel.
