Can anybody name this guy

Hello Fella's,
Can any body ID this Little creature, I have
seen a few in my day. I usually find them when skiinning
my harvest now & then but I have never researched it.

When you see them, are they just on hair or skin or do they emerge from under the skin?

It was about the size of a nickle.

Can,t see the pix that well,but if there are no legs,  then it is a warbler or bot-fly,i find them in early season,on squirrels,they will just bore there way out of body,if that is a warbler.

Looks like a bot-fly larva.  Those "hairs" you see on it are actually spikes that help the larva stay inside the hole in the skin by making it hard to pull it out.

I kinda thought it was a bot-fly Larva
I posted a picture of a couple of bunnies.
Under Benjamin & bunnies it is kinda hard to see but it is on
the ground next to the bunny on the dirt trail.
That will give you an idea how big it is.
Also it seems like they are only attached to the hide because I never have seen any hole in the meat.
A bot-fly bores right into the meat, check it out on youtube they are nasty.

Thats the darkest botfly larve I ever saw.
And it looks like its bored into a shark or a whale.
Never saw any squirrel hide that looked like that either.

Ditto Botfly larve.  They can be found in rabbits, squirrels, probably a lot of other critters.  In warmer climates rabbit season comes in when there are still a few botfly larve in the host rabbits.  They do no harm.  You just skin the rabbit or squirrel like normal and then cut away the "tough spot" between the skin and the "silver sheath" under the skin.  You can then cook the critter as you normally would.

They are pretty ugly though.  My GSD killed a squirrel a couple years ago and it had a botfly larva in it.  Wifey (who is a vidiot city girl who loves "The Alien" series of movies) was totally freaked when she saw what she took to be an "eye" looking out of the dead squirrel and moving around.

  My first experiance with them about 40 years ago,I shot a rabbit and placed him in paper lunch bag,no plastic back then,and layed him on passenger side floor board of pickup,was driving along and seen bags moving,i said (what the *(&^) and threw bag with rabbit out the window.Yea,i was young and dumb. But after the first front or 2 there gone.
