Hw90/RX2 lock up
«

Anyone with a 90 or RX2 having barrel lock up issues?
My friend and I have one of each and are noticing that with the barrel locked in the closed position, with pressure on the barrel pushing as if to break it open, there is a slight movement as if it's not locked or the detent spring is pushing in.
On mine, with the cocking arm removed from the action, lock up is positive and strong. I wonder if the arm is preventing positive lock up? The little plastic guide perhaps?
Anyways, speculation aside, those of you who have one, could you check to see if you gun is doing the same. Instead of slapping the barrel open, just push it and see if you get movement before it breaks open.

Ok ... This is going to be a little hard to explain but on my new HW90 if you push very lightly down on the barrle you feel an ever so light movement accompanied with a click .... continued pressure breaks the barrel open ....
Hope that helps ... You know this is probably going to start annoying me know ... &^^&
Peace

Sorry Kelly, thanks though. Do you get differing POI's based on lock up?
Monitor and let me know. My friend does. Not sure on mine, need better scope mounts before I move forward.

Nope, mine is good 'n tight, there isn't a micron of movement. In fact the lockup is so nice and tight that I have to muscle it open to cock the rifle.
That does sound odd that yours is doing that.
I also felt another RX-1 (same era as mine) and that one was good 'n tight also.

I've shot the same two RX-1s as Nikoman in .20 cal and from my memory, they were typical German "Gutentight" barrel lock ups with no movement.
I don't know if the barrels on these use shims between the barrel block and compression tube forks, but I'd check those by taking the barrel off. If any are missing or worn, you could get some side to side play or maybe even vertical play since things could be loose. If your movement is more up and down, I'd say to also try to get some oil or lube or clean behind the chisel detent on the barrel. There could be dirt or debris interfering with that detent's movement. Behind it there is usually a spring and any type of friction could throw things off.
Good luck!

Barrel does have shims. I think it may have something to do with the cocking arm. Without it attached, lock up is tight. I wonder if the cocking shoe is not lined up or in the right place.

Haven't posted in a while. RX2 all sorted out. Barrel was bent, thanks Chris at CAP for telling me that RX2's don't have droop.
Lock up seems to be ok. Shooting 9mm shells at 25m no problem.

I agree with Niko- my RX2 requires a firm pop to break past the lockup. It's good and solid...
