1377 grip shims

 I originally posted this on the old GTA. There seems to be a lot of interest lately in 1377's and 2240's so I thought I'd re-post this quick trick.

 I got tired of the grips on my 1377 shifting around no matter how tight the screws are. I want a nice set of custom grips but that's just not in the budget right now. I made up these simple delrin shims and they tightened up things nicely. I don't understand why Crosman doesn't make the hole the correct size to begin with. The shims are .125 ID and .187 OD. I pushed them in the grip and trimmed to length with a razor blade.

Matt,,,what is involved in "making up" a delrin shim.  A lathe?  or something much simpler, hopefully.

 All of my mods  generally involve common over the counter stuff available at my local Ace Hdwe store.   

I made some toothpick shims for my 1377,,,but they fell out.

They don't necessarily need to be made from Delrin. Get some 3/16" O.D. by 1/8" I.D. poly tubing from the hardware. Push one end as deep as it will go in, the grip and then cut the tubing next to the grip flush with a razor knife. Cheap and no machining time. I have three sets fixed this way and they stay put.

Toolmaker,do you hunt with your 1377? I thought about getting one jus for fun,but my rule is if it can't be used to hunt,I don't buy it.Just curious,they sell pretty cheap locally,around $39.99 plus tax,seems like a good deal.

My fix for that problem was a dab of  4 minute JB Weld in the hole in the grip with a little bit of oil on the frame on the  pin that fits in the hole. replace grip and let set for about 5 minutes. Remove grip and let cure. could leave it together but I wanted to make sure I could remove the grips later.
